From photo to creation, how to imagine a landscape?

Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog.

Yesterday I am on the beach by the sea, in my area, a very normal stretch of coast, only the promontory was a source of inspiration. I brought the watercolors to attempt a live painting, but I had no inspiration, normal sea, normal beach and normal bathers.

The only useful thing was the preparatory drawing that inspired a new landscape that I made last night in my studio.

I used a couple of shots of the promontory as subjects, and I decided to change the meaning of the day at sea. No sun, no beach with swimmers and above all bad weather, rough seas and match-race sailboats. I tried to create a subject with more drama, the light in the background reveals the good weather, but the rain on the mountain continues to rage.

The dark sea in the foreground highlights the light on the bottom and the two boats have their sails swollen in the wind.

I hope you like my painting and that it is a source of inspiration and an example of how to use the photographs we usually take.

I leave you the steps of the painting.

A hug in the wind.

Armando.
