Writer's block

in Olio di Balena10 days ago

People cope differently when they experience writer's block. Some stay off writing and catch up with other chores that help them build the spirit to write, some take a walk , while some never leave, they hang around hoping to gain motivation to write once again. I fall in the last category, I started writing long time ago, even though it wasn't perfect, I was consistent, so I write even when the motivation isn't there , or when no idea seems to come to my head, I just write, hoping to go read back all I wrote when no idea was forthcoming.

In a simple word, writer's block is inability to write or fetch out creative ideas to write. It happens to every writer, the frequency is what differs. Since writer's block is inevitable, what's then important is one's coping mechanism which is different between individuals. The first step is identifying a writer's block and being able to differentiate it from one's lack of interest to write. The second step is finding activities that open you up to ideas and fuel the interest to write. Then the final step is to take the action that helps you manage this period effectively.

When I experience a writer's block, what I do is either write a poem or talk about it. Poems are short and precise, they help me build words together gradually until I'm able to write again. Ways I manage mine may be different, but once you identify it, it makes it easy, giving room for the best of you to surface.
