New Ranked Rewards: I Like Them!
Yesterday, May 31, 2022, the seventy-third season of Splinterlands ended and season number 74 began, which will end in just under 15 days as indicated by the Splinterstats website.
The current season is not a season like the previous ones because it is the first season in which the new Ranked Rewards have been introduced and activated.
Daily Focus and New Season Reward
The old Daily Quests have been replaced by the new Daily Focus.
The old Season Rewards have been replaced by the New Season Rewards.
As you can see from the data in the table below (source: https://www.splintercards.com/), in the old reward mechanism the rating score and the power score were the two determining elements in defining the maximum amount of the number of chests receivable as a daily reward and as an end-of-season reward.
For example, a player who had a rating score between 2500 and 2799 points and a Collection Power score of at least 200000 points could receive:
- 8 chests per day as a reward for completing the daily mission
- 30 chests as an end-of-season reward (every 15 days).
With the new reward system, from Bronze League III to Champion League I, the maximum number of chests receivable daily and seasonally (every 15 days) is the same for all players:
- maximum number of chests receivable from the completion of the daily mission: 30
- maximum number of chests receivable as end-of-season reward: 150
What changes is the type of chests receivable and probable content which varies according to the type.
There are now six types of chests:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Diamond
- Champion
At the beginning of each season and for the duration of the season each player will only be able to receive one type of chest which will depend on the maximum league reached in the previous season.
For example, I who finished the previous season in Diamond II league** will only be able to receive for the duration of the season and as a reward chests of type Diamond.
Season Points, Focus Points e Rshares
A certain number of points must be accumulated to earn a chest:
- to earn an end-of-season reward chest, it is necessary to accumulate a certain number of Season Points.
- To earn a daily reward chest, it is necessary to accumulate a certain number of Focus Points.
Each player can know the number of points needed to earn the next chest from a counter in both the Season Rewards box and the Focus Daily box as indicated by the arrows in the following image.
Click on the Details box to find out the amount of points needed to receive each of the chests of the two types of rewards (Season Rewards and Focus Daily Rewards).
For example, someone like me who finished the previous season in one of the three Diamond leagues must accumulate 43000 Season Points (SP) to receive the first Diamond chest and 40619205 SP to receive a total of 150 chests as end-of-season rewards.
To earn Season Points and Focus Points, it is necessary to win Ranked Battles.
More specifically, you earn Season Points for each battle won while earning Focus Points for each battle won by respecting the "Focus" of the assigned daily mission.
For example, my current focus is LIFE. This means that I will only earn Focus Points for each battle I win by using summoners of the LIFE element such as Lorna Shine or General Sloan.
When there are just over 13 hours left until the end of my first Daily Focus I have accumulated an amount of Focus Points needed to receive 4 Diamond chests and if I want to receive the maximum prize, 30 chests, I must accumulate a total of 3521594 Focus Points.
The amount of Season Points and the amount of Focus Points is determined by the Reward Shares whose calculation is obtained from the following formula:
I had fun modifying the previous formula with images of the formula elements taken from the Splinterlands site.
Let us analyze the different elements present in the formula:
- rating elevated to the cube: the rating score is the only value elevated to the cube in the formula, and this means that increasing the rating score is the best way to earn more Rshares and consequently more Season Points and Rewards Points.
ECR: The ECR is the Energy Capture Rate. Each battle won or lost consumes the ECR and decreases it by 1%. The higher the ECR (max 100%), the higher the Rshares score will be.
This means that having a good Win Rate will allow you to accumulate a higher Rshares score for each battle won.
- Bonus: There are several bonuses that allow you to increase the Rshares score:
- +10% for each Gold card used in a won battle.
- +10% for each Alpha or Promo card used in a won battle
- +5% for each Beta card used in a battle won
- +5% for each consecutive victory (Win Streak)
- +1% to +20% based on the Lodge level achieved by the Guild
- (1 - % of Starter Cards):
Using one or more Starter Cards produces a decrease in Rshares score that becomes equal to 0 when winning a battle using only Starter Cards as shown by Splinterlands in the table below.
Final considerations
I really like the recent change to Ranked Rewards for several reasons:
- new players are incentivized to make an initial investment and as early as Bronze level III have the opportunity to earn a maximum of 30 chests per day (only 1 chest before the change) and a maximum of 150 chests every 15 days (only 5 chests before the change).
- the better players will receive more rewards in less time than strategically less skilled players.
The ratio of battles won to battles lost (win rate) gains importance compared to the past where the number of battles played mattered more than the quality of the game activity. - cards gain importance and will likely gain value in the future, and this will be especially true for cards that are particularly useful in battle and that allow for an advantage not only in game play but now also in terms of rewards obtainable.
- the incentive of the greater number of chests obtainable daily should in all probability decrease the "bottleneck" effect that was occurring during the last two days of the season during which those in the top positions of the rankings of the various leagues would stop playing for fear of losing the ranking position they had acquired.
With the new rewards structure it will be important to place yourself each season in the league in which you are most competitive, in which you have the best win rate and in which you play the most during the season because advancing for example from the Diamond league to the Champion league only in the last days of the season could be counterproductive in terms of rewards as is evident by looking at the table published by Splinterlands showing the average Rshares scores to obtain a chest of a specific type (see image below).
I really like this new rewards structure because the focus is now on the skill part of Splinterlands and those who play more frequently and show skill in strategic choices will rightly be rewarded more.

Come puoi vedere dai dati presenti nella tabella seguente (fonte: https://www.splintercards.com/), con il vecchio meccanismo di ricompensa il punteggio di rating e il punteggio power erano i due elementi determinanti per definire l'ammontare massimo del numero di forzieri ricevibili come ricompensa giornaliera e come ricompensa di fine stagione.
Ad esempio un giocatore che aveva un punteggio di rating compreso tra 2500 e 2799 punti e un punteggio di Collection Power di almeno 200000 punti poteva ricevere:
- 8 forzieri al giorno come ricompensa per il completamento della missione giornaliera
- 30 forzieri come ricompensa di fine stagione (ogni 15 giorni).
Con il nuovo sistema di ricompense, a partire dalla lega Bronzo III fino alla lega Champion I, il numero massimo di forzieri ricevibili giornalmente e stagionalmente (ogni 15 giorni) è uguale per tutti i giocatori:
- numero massimo di forzieri ricevibili dal completamento della missione giornaliera: 30
- numero massimo di forzieri ricevibili come ricompensa di fine stagione: 150
Quello che cambia è la tipologia dei forzieri ricevibili e il probabile contenuto che varia in base alla tipologia.
Adesso ci sono sei tipologie di forzieri:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Diamond
- Champion
Ad ogni inizio stagione e per tutta la durata della stagione ogni giocatore potrà ricevere una sola tipologia di forziere che dipenderà dalla lega massima raggiunta nella precedente stagione.
Ad esempio io che ho finito la precedente stagione in lega Diamond II potrò ricevere per tutta la durata della stagione e come ricompensa solo i forzieri di tipo Diamond.
Season Points, Focus Points e Rshares
Per guadagnare un forziere è necessario accumulare un certo numero di punti:
- per guadagnare un forziere della ricompensa di fine stagione è necessario accumulare un determinato numero di Season Points.
- per guadagnare un forziere della ricompensa giornaliera è necessario accumulare un determinato numero di Focus Points.
Ogni giocatore può conoscere il numero di punti necessari per ottenere il prossimo forziere da un contatore presente sia nel riquadro della Season Rewards che nel riquadro della Focus Daily come indicato dalle frecce nell'immagine seguente.
Cliccando sul riquadro Details è possibile conoscere il quantitativo di punti necessario per ricevere ognuno dei forzieri delle due tipologie di ricompense (Season Rewards e Focus Daily Rewards).
Ad esempio chi come me ha terminato la precedente stagione in una delle tre leghe Diamond deve accumulare 43000 Season Points (SP) per ricevere il primo forziere Diamond e 40619205 SP per ricevere in totale 150 forzieri come ricompensa di fine stagione.
Per guadagnare i Season Points e i Focus Points è necessario vincere le Ranked Battles.
Più precisamente si guadagnano i Season Point per ogni battaglia vinta mentre si guadagnano i Focus Points per ogni battaglia vinta rispettando il "Focus" della missione giornaliera assegnata.
Ad esempio il mio focus attuale è LIFE. Questo vuol dire che guadagnerò Focus Points solo per ogni battaglia che vincerò utilizzando gli evocatori dell'elemento LIFE come ad esempio Lorna Shine o General Sloan.
Quando mancano poco più di 13 ore alla fine della mia prima Daily Focus ho accumulato un ammontare di Focus Points necessario per ricevere 4 forzieri Diamond e se voglio ricevere il premio massimo, 30 forzieri, devo accumulare un totale di 3521594 Focus Points.
Il quantitativo di Season Points e il quantitativo di Focus Points è determinato dal Reward Shares il cui calcolo è ottenuto dalla seguente formula:
Mi sono divertito a modificare la formula precedente con le immagini degli elementi della formula presi dal sito di Splinterlands.
Analizziamo i diversi elementi presenti nella formula:
rating elevato al cubo: il punteggio di rating è l'unico valore elevato al cubo presente nella formula e questo vuol dire che aumetare il punteggio di rating è il miglior modo per guadagnare più Rshares e di conseguenza più Season Points e Rewards Points.
ECR: l'ECR è l'Energy Capture Rate. Ogni battaglia vinta o persa consuma l'ECR e lo fa diminuire dell'1%. Più è alto l'ECR (max 100%) e più alto sarà il punteggio Rshares.
Questo vuol dire che avere un buon Win Rate permetterà di accumulare un punteggio Rshares maggiore per ogni battaglia vinta.
Bonus: ci sono diversi bonus che permettono di aumentare il punteggio Rshares:
- +10% per ogni carta Gold utilizzare in una battaglia vinta
- +10% per ogni carta Alpha o Promo utilizzata in una battaglia vinta
- +5% per ogni carta Beta utilizzata in una battaglia vinta
- +5% per ogni vittoria consecutiva (Win Streak)
- da +1% a +20% in base al livello Lodge raggiunto dalla Gilda di appartenza
(1 - % of Starter Cards):
Utilizzare una o più Starter Cards produce una diminuzione del punteggio Rshares che diventa uguale a 0 quando si vince una battaglia utilizzando solo Starter Cards come mostrato da Splinterlands nella tabella seguente.
Considerazioni finali
La recente modifica alle Ranked Rewards mi piace molto per diversi motivi:
- i nuovi giocatori sono incentivati ad effetturare un investimento iniziale e già dal livello Bronzo III hanno la possibilità di guadagnare un massimo di 30 forzieri al giorno (solo 1 forziere prima della modifica) e un massimo di 150 forzieri ogni 15 giorni (solo 5 forzieri prima della modifica).
- i giocatori più bravi riceveranno un maggior numero di ricompense in un tempo minore rispetto ai giocatori strategicamente meno bravi.
Il rapporto battaglie vinte/battaglie perse (win rate) acquista importanza rispetto al passato in cui contava più il numero di battaglie giocate che la qualità dell'attività di gioco. - le carte acquistano importanza e probabilmente acquisteranno valore in futuro e questo varrà soprattutto per le carte particolarmente utili in battaglia che permettono di avere un vantaggio non solo di gioco ma adesso anche in termini di ricompense ottenibili.
- l'incentivo del maggior numero di forzieri ottenibili giornalmente farà, con molta probabilità, diminuire l'effetto "collo di bottiglia" che si verificava durante gli ultimi due giorni della stagione durante i quali chi si trovava nelle posizioni alte delle classifiche delle varie leghe smetteva di giocare per paura di perdere la posizione in classifica aquisita.
Con la nuova struttura delle ricompense sarà importante posizionarsi in ogni stagione nella lega in cui si è più competitivi, in cui si ha il win rate migliore e in cui si gioca di più durante la stagione perchè avanzare ad esempio dalla lega Diamond alla lega Champion solo negli ultimi giorni della stagione potrebbe essere controproducente in ottica di ricompense come è evidente guardando la tabella pubblicata da Splinterlands con l'indicazione dei punteggi Rshares medi per ottenere un forziere di una determinata tipologia (vedi immagine seguente).
Questa nuova struttura delle ricompense mi piace davvero molto perchè il focus è adesso sulla parte skill di Splinterlands e chi giocherà con più frequenza e impegno e mostrerà abilità nelle scelte strategiche sarà giustamente ricompensatgo di più.

I love the new system so far and there are many great suggestions already to make it even better. Like rotate Focus splinter after one or several focus chests, make them claimable right after earning them and allow everyone to earn Focus even when not using the focus splinter but at a much lower rate.
Probably this is my current favorite suggestion to further improve Splinterlands. Otherwise I very much like the new reward system.

I think these new changes will bring more value to Splinterlands and maybe even new players because now new players will have more fun even in Bronze leagues because they will be able to open more chests than single player before ;)

In sintesi adesso i forzieri hanno premi maggiori e il loro numero potenziale da guadagnare è aumentato ma adesso bisogna impiegare più tempo rispetto a prima per avere ricompense maggiori.
Il meccanismo adesso è più meritocratico e focalizzato sul gioco ma richiede più tempo da dedicare al gioco e ovviamente potrebbe essere migliorato.

Ciao @libertycrypto27
Ho letto il tuo post, che, come al solito, ho apprezzato per la ricchezza di dettagli e per la descrizione di ogni più piccolo particolare, che aiuta sicuramente a comprendere come girano le cose a seguito di questi cambiamenti apportati al gioco, ma purtroppo non riesco a essere altrettanto entusiasta per la nuova modalità.
Dopo i primi due eventi Focus che ho affrontato, infatti, mi è riuscito di portare a casa solo un totale di 6 scrigni, dopo due giornate, con contenuti a dir poco miserevoli, tra cui due Alchemy potion e qualche carta comune, a fronte di uno sbattimento a dir poco assurdo, che ha già portato il mio ECR ad un valore tale, per cui ottenere i prossimi scrigni sarà piuttosto difficile.
Probabilmente non sarò un gran giocatore di questo gioco che, evidentemente, non sa vincere un gran numero di battaglie, con un winrate piuttosto basso, ma sinceramente, almeno, prima potevo dire la mia, visto che è già la seconda season consecutiva che riuscivo a raggiungere livello Diamond I.
A queste condizioni, però, sinceramente, mi sta letteralmente passando la voglia di giocare, anche perché, una volta rientrato al lavoro, mi vedrò costretto, gioco forza, a passare buona parte della serata a dannarmi l'anima nel tentativo di vincere quante più battaglie possibili dedicati al Focus estratto giornalmente, nel tentativo di ricevere qanti più scrigni possibili.
Sinceramente credo, quindi, che, una volta che avranno adeguatamente modificato gli script, che regolavano il loro modo di giocare, per addattarli, questa nuova modalità potrebbe finire con l'essere un nuovo regalo a chi utilizza i bot, che, a differenza degli essere umani, non hanno problemi di gestione del tempo.
Questo mi sembra sia anche un po' l'opinione di molte altre persone, almeno stando a quello che ho potuto leggere su vari gruppi di discussione dedicati a questo gioco, dove mi sembra che era più il malcontento a reganre che le persone che gradiscono questa novità.
Al momento devo dire di essere tra i suddetti e, sinceramente, se nei prossimi giorni le cose non inizieranno a cambiare, alla fine di questa Season trarrò le mie conclusioni e vedrò se continuare a dedicare del tempo, giornalmente, per tentare di concludere le varie nuove quest che mi verranno assegnate, o se passerò oltre, dedicando il mio tempo a tutt'altro.

Ciao @lozio71 a me piace molto la teoria che sta dietro a questa modifica e certamente il sistema potrebbe essere migliorato ma premiare chi gioca di più e chi riesce a fare più vittorie è un principio che mi piace in uno skill game e in ottica di acquisizione nuovi giocatori e rivalutazione del valore delle carte questo sistema è decisamente migliore del primo.
Considera che dato che all'inizio della stagione vieni portato a leghe inferiori guadagnare forzieri è più difficile e richiede molto tempo ma appena entri nelle leghe diamond dovresti fare sempre meno fatica.
Il tempo da dedicare è certamente maggiore e anche io dopo la teoria voglio vedere la pratica ma 2 giorni sono pochi per fare valutazioni e più che il mio introito personale (che dovrebbe essere maggiore considerato il contenuto medio probabile di un forziere Diamond) penso che questa modifica porterà valore futuro e incentiverà all'acquisto e potenziamento delle carte per avere un maggiore win rate.
Ovvio le mie sono solo previsioni e valutazione personali ma potrei sbagliarmi anche se spero di no ;)

I don't know if I like being forced to use a specific splinter each day and my friend who ended the season in Silver III seems unmotivated to play the game. It's because the rshares that he can get are way too low in bronze to even claim any of the silver rewards. When he saw 30 wins to get one daily quest, he just up and gave up.

I think some adjustments and improvements can be made but I like the theory behind these changes.
The time to spend is more than before but the potential gain is more for those who play a lot.
Perhaps alternating after tot battles the element to be used could be an improvement.
As for your friend I think he did not do the right calculations and he especially should be happy with this modification, before he was gaining 1 chest per day that he could hold:
Now play more but get 1 Silver chest containing:
If he advances in the Silver III league the last days of the season he should be very happy instead of disgruntled, if he advances in Silver III in the early days he should be able to earn more than 1 chest per day with 30 wins...
When he gets to Silver III it will be easier to earn chests because his rating will be higher.
The same goes for the end-of-season reward: he used to receive 12 chests while today he may receive more and especially with content that is most likely better.
Did your friend do all the evaluations and all the calculations?
The time to spend is certainly more with the new Ranked Rewards but especially new players who want to make a minimal initial investment should be happy and less penalized ;)

New rewards is so difficult. I only manage 1000 pts out of 5000 !
Yes in the beginning of the season collecting chests is more difficult but when you increase the rating score also the chests will be easier to reach.
It is important to finish the season in the league where you are comfortable and where you play the most during the season ;)
