En el evangelio de hoy, (san Mateo 8, 18-22) repite el episodio donde Jesús invita a uno de sus discípulos a que lo siga pero este le responde con una excusa, valedera, por cierto: “Señor, permíteme ir primero a enterrar a mi padre”. Sin embargo, el Mesías le dice: “Tú sígueme y deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos”. Parece cruel esta orden que da Jesús al discípulo pero de lo que se trata es de dejarlo todo a la hora de seguir al Salvador del mundo, no puede haber excusas a la hora de emprender el camino de la salvación, quien quiera seguir a Jesús debe hacerlo con el corazón y dedicar sus pensamiento, palabras y obras a esa hermosa misión, que no es otra que la entrega, el amor, la misericordia, el perdón... Seguir a nuestro Señor Jesucristo no es imposible pero nos exige estar por encima de cualquier cosa; incluso, la vida misma.

En aquel tiempo, al ver Jesús que la multitud lo rodeaba, les ordenó a sus discípulos que cruzaran el lago hacia la orilla de enfrente.
