The land, which includes the monastery of St. Theodore from the Byzantine Empire, was first used as a hunting farm during the Ottoman period and was opened as a mevlevihane by İskender pasha in 1491. It is said to be the first mevlevihane in the city. As someone who lives in this city and spends almost most of my life in Beyoğlu, I would like to say that I came here for the first time. When I arrived, the museum part was closed to visitors. I chatted with the attendant for a while and tried to learn its history. Although the interior was closed, there were many local and foreign visitors who came with tours.
In the garden section there were "Humushes", the tombs of the silent ones, which I had heard about in Sufism and mostly from Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi. I went there and prayed. There were a lot of cats on the tombs and I liked this very much. I had previously wondered about the meaning of Humush during my visit to Konya / Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi and questioned it there. I was very impressed when I learned that there is a concept in Sufism called silent agreement, heart-to-heart agreement. Because I am a person with deep spirituality and since my childhood, silence has come over me at some hours of the day. My family even took me to countless doctors when I was young because I didn't speak. But I wasn't sick, I was aware of everything, but I preferred to remain silent, or rather, I needed to remain silent. I still have a sudden silence during the day and my close circle has gotten used to it.
There were incredibly beautiful tulips in the garden. I always talk about it and share it and if you are following me, you know it. I love flowers and nature very much. The tulips here seemed more pleasant to me with the spiritual energy given by the atmosphere.
If you are ever in Istanbul, make sure you come here! I will!
