I used 2 big onions, 3 carrots, and 3 sticks of celery and I used the traditional way to chippeethem up to really small bits, the power of hand and knife. Chop chop chop chop.

Here are the olive oil and canned tomatoes I used for this bolognese sauce. Our local brand of canned tomatoes are sourish, so I hunted high and low for this brand.

Browning 2kg of meat needs some time too. I toss and stir the meat for about 20 minutes until I felt I had worked out my arms' muscles. Haha.

This big pot of bolognese sauce does need some love to cook. Even the doullop of tomatoes puree looks like a love shape. ❤️

Our hearty meal of bolognese pasta with steamed broccoli. All of them love it, including myself. So, so good!

I have been having this plan of cooking a BIG batch of bolognese sauce so that I have extra for freezing/storing because my children really love bolognese pasta. Finally, I did it.

It is simple to cook, only need time and also a lot of love.😁

The ingredients needed are 2 big onions, 3 carrots, 3 sticks celery, 1kg of minced beef, 2 tablespoons of tomato puree, 4 cans of chopped plum tomatoes, 1kg of minced pork, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and sugar.

It is indeed an easy cooking but requires a lot of time due to super big bath and af course time to simmer the whole big pot for the taste to infuse and to incorporate before it becomes super flavourful.

In a big pot, add a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil and add in all the meat to cook, to brown the meat. This itself already took me about 20 minutes of tossing the meat around to ensure all are browned. When you hear the meat sort of like cracking or crackling or popping in the pot, means it is well done. Haha. Learned from Jamie Oliver some time back. I also learned this bolognese sauce from him but tweaking a bit by adding in our favourite sauce called Worcestershire sauce. And I did not add any herbs because I don't have it here in the kitchen.

Next, add in all the chopped onions, carrots and celery and stir them up till blended well too, about 10 minutes. Then, add in two tablespoons of tomato puree and stir them up too.

For the canned chopped plum tomatoes, when I bought it, it was only one left of the chopped one, so I grabbed one can of chopped one and 3 cans of whole peeled one. So before adding these in, I roughly chopped the whole perled tomatoes. Add in all four cans of the canned tomatoes. And add in 3-4 cans of water, depending how watery you prefer. It looks so watery in the beginning, but worry not, when you let them simmer for 2 hours, the water will dry up a little. Yes, let them simmer for 2 hours or 3 hours if you have the patience. The longer hours, the better flavour.

Last step will be adding all the seasoning like salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce (optional) and sugar (optional). I find my sauce not sweet enough so I add in half tablespoon of sugar. Otherwise, actually it is also good on its own. All natural flavour in the pot.

For this BIG batch, it can be used for four times eating for a family of 4 pax. I used it for our dinner and I freezed 3 more portion. I am happy homemaker!!! Yuhoo!!! Save a lot of cost compared to eating out. Yayyy!

I steamed some broccolis to eat together with our delicious bolognese pasta! Yums!
