While waiting for my husband and boys to finish their Pokémon hunting, I had my me-time. Let's selfie with my snack then! 😜

Chap Goh Meh!!!

Finally, we were at the last day of Chinese New Year celebration, the Day 15!!!
In Hokkien, 'chap goh' means 15, 'meh' means night. Hence, Chap Goh Meh is the 15th day of the first month of our Chinese calender, also means the last day of Chinese New Year. For some, it is Chinese's Valentines Day. Therefore, there is an event for the singles to throw oranges into rivers, in hope to search for their future partner. Names and telephone number are written on the oranges too, so that when it lands on someone's hand, he or she has the contact number.

Most Chinese celebrate Chap Goh Meh just like any other days of Chinese New Year, with family eating as well as firecrackers. My family on the other hand does not celebrate Chap Goh Meh as festive as it should, although we do recognise its significance. After all, we are Chinese.

I did purposely prepare all checkered top for my husband and children. That is the privilege I have, being a homemaker, I got to choose what to let them wear. Muahaha!

However, it was a special day at church today. We, in a way, celebrated Chap Goh Meh by wearing Chinese New Year theme, especially the ladies. The men may not be so keen not because of disinterested, but they had bigger projects to think about, I guess. So, only the ladies joined in the Chinese New Year theme wearing. We took photos together after the church had ended. I had uploaded some photos to share with you. I am the one on checkered cheongsam top. Two main photographers — hence photos were taken from @happycrazycon's phone and @josephinengpy7. As usual, it was a great day at church.

We went to Texas Chicken for lunch. It had been awhile, so suddenly the fried chicken tasted so good to me. Even the fries, mashed potatoes and butter biscuits were delicious.

Coincidentally, it was also Pokémon Community Day from 2pm-5pm, therefore, my husband and boys were busy catching Pokémon while walking around the mall. So, since we were still in the mall, I sat at a shop called "I LOVE YOO", and I just ordered a hot soya bean and a snack called "Nian Gao", while doing some work. ''Niam Gao' is
made of 3 layers of 'Nian Gao', yam and sweet potato, then deep fried. 'Nian Gao' is our Chinese sweet rice cake, eaten during Chinese New Year, symbolises prosperity and yearly growth.

Final thoughts

That's a wrap. We had officially finished our Chinese New Year celebrations. It was 15 days full of joy, good expectations for one another, great blessings poured out, and of course, a lot of eating. I had gained some weight too and hope to go back to usual exercise routine and some healthy diet. Hereby, I really wish everyone a bountiful year of 2023, may good health and great wealth follow us and the goodness of God showers on us.

Just noticed the black jazz guitar had a whammy bar, pretty unusual. Wondering how well it sound 😁

The fried 年糕 also looks very tasty Wei. Looks very gooey🤤

I don't even know that's a jazz guitar. Thought just usual bass guitar. Hehe. Not so knowledgeable in guitars... 🤭

Nian Gao nice... You can try at any I Love Yoo but I think can't compare with those at Petaling Street.

Biggest challenge with the caramel rice cake is, one will never know how gooey it is until it's melted. Not know if it's too sweet until you eat it. So, buying year cake can be a gamble 🤣

The jazz guitar I'm referring to, is the black Les Paul. They don't usually built with a tremolo with standard Les Paul built 😁 the bar was built there at the bridge, so when you yank it, it changes the tension rate, resulting in vibrato effect.

How nice to spend 15 days celebrating and getting together with family and friends. I like that tradition! (And you all look lovely in your New Year clothes.)

It's the last day of CNY right? Which is Lantern Festival here..
