Chinese New Year Day 2

I saw many people posted their CNY #ootd. So, I was thinking what to wear for Day 2. This year, honestly, I had too many cheongsam blouses until I did not know which to wear. Why I had surplus? Because I bought 3 pieces for my mum and she said they were a bit short for her, so she gave all to me. Therefore, I had too many cheongsam blouses, I ended up choosing this brown top with a checkered culottes for a comfortable wear because we would be doing house visitation. Just one house visitation with mother-in-law's side.

We woke up rather early because the boys were exited not for Chinese New Year but for the holiday. Holiday means they could have some screen time in the morning. Since we would be leaving house at 10 plus, they woke up earlier so that they could watch some videos and play some games. I woke up helping to prepare breakfast for everybody and iron our shirts. We had simple egg cheese sandwiches for the boys and half-boiled eggs for the adults.

It was 10:30am, time to depart to pick up parents-in-law to go together to the house. It was actually the house of my grandmother's brother, my husband's side of late grandmother. Two years of lockdown and we did not get to go. So eventhough it was rather far, a 45-minute drive, but we decided to go, and to bring along the boys so that they got to know him and his family too. We had learned that life is precious and we would want to miss any opportunity if we could meet up. No one knows the future. So we treasure every moments of meeting up.

45-minute journey in the car did not seem long because we chitchatted in the car. And also looking out the window to the sceneries and buildings we seldom saw because we rarely went to this place. When we arrived, another family had arrived too. Two dogs of theirs were barking so loudly, we took it as they were inviting us. 😁 We greeted the host. I called him 'ji gu gong' (for the man), and 'ji kim po' (for the woman), in Hokkien language, the number two granduncle and grandaunty. My boys called him 'ji gu gong co' and 'ji kim po co'. And they got confused by the 4 syllables. Haha.

It was really a great time of catching up especially for my mother-in-law, to catch up with her uncle and aunty, the last batch who are still alive. We blessed them with great health and great strength. I loved this sight of connecting and relating with one another, to know what's the latest of one another, over a casual CNY visitation.

My eldest son still remembered his turtle which he met them 5 years ago. And the turtle is still alive, from 1 to 6 turtles now. I forgot to take picture of the own-made pond outside of my grant uncle's house. The turtles were shy though. Quickly jumped into the pond when we tried to get near. I managed to take a photo of a small open-concept aquarium at the living hall, for his gold fish. He loves turtles and fish, basically a pet lover.

We were there for one hour, ending our meetup with some photos. After we bid goodbye, we had lunch at nearby big coffee shop which I shall blog about it in next blog. Then, we went home to rest.

At night, the boys wanted to play a simple fun CNY stuffs called Pop-Pop. Basically, you throw them whichever you like and they will pop. My eldest son had upskill himself by throwing them upwards and let them landed and popped by gravity. Haha. They were so happy just by playing pop-pop. Happiness is at children's fingertips. Easily accessible. I love our simple, stress-free CNY Day 2.

Great holiday fun with family. The pop-pop seems fun! Happy CNY!

Thank you, @arrliinn. =)

Happy CNY 😊 my day was a working day lol.. But I have three holidays hehe.

Thank you, @jane1289. Glad that you have 3-day holiday, much needed holidays to rest or catch up other necessary things to do. 😉

Sounds like a fun and relaxing day. Because I live in the country, I have to drive 35-45 minutes to get to doctors and larger grocery stores and department stores, so I am used to driving a lot. I don't particularly like to drive in town or after dark, but that's the way it is.
