They can be likened to blank slates which you can write upon and as they grow older, they begin to exhibit those things that have been imprinted in their hearts, minds, and souls over time. It is absolutely beautiful to see. It is like being a huge part of the customization of a little human into a fully functional adult.

So while we have passed the stage of teaching babygirl how to feed herself, another important lesson or training is teaching her how to clean up after she is done eating. The teachings and the learning are definitely a life-long process, so with each training comes a follow-up training and another follow-up training.

My babygirl came back from school and was super hungry. Her teacher said she finished everything we put for her as food. She must have exerted herself in school. So as soon as we got home, we wasted no time in fixing her up something solid to hold her down for lunch.

She seems to have taken a strong likening for a local dish we call "garri and soup". We prepared this for her as it not only fills her up but also knocks her out for the whole afternoon and we can seize the time to do other things while she is fast asleep.
Parece que le gusta mucho un plato local que llamamos "garri y sopa". Se lo preparamos porque no sólo la llena, sino que también la deja sin sentido durante toda la tarde y podemos aprovechar el tiempo para hacer otras cosas mientras ella se duerme.
As soon as the food is ready, she took her position and did not wait to be assisted with the feeding process. We tied a small cloth around her neck to prevent her from messing up her t-shirt. She immediately washed her hands and dived right into helping herself out.
En cuanto la comida está lista, ella se pone en posición y no espera a que la ayuden con el proceso de alimentación. Le atamos un pequeño paño alrededor del cuello para evitar que se manchara la camiseta. Inmediatamente se lavó las manos y se lanzó a ayudarse a sí misma.
We assisted her with cutting the garri into smaller balls that she can easily swallow. She picked them one after the other, dipped it into the soup, and swallowed.

While she was eating she kept humming and smiling, clearly food made her happy just like a lot of us adults. I was so pleased to see the huge smile on her face as she ate her food in a steady pace. She ate so much that she confessed to being full.
Mientras comía, no paraba de tararear y sonreír; está claro que la comida la hace feliz, como a muchos de nosotros los adultos. Me alegró mucho ver la enorme sonrisa que tenía en la cara mientras comía a un ritmo constante. Comió tanto que confesó estar llena.
Due to how full she was, she started playing with the food and at this point, we had to take the remaining food from her so she could wash her hands and clean her mouth.
Debido a lo llena que estaba, empezó a jugar con la comida y en ese momento tuvimos que quitarle la comida restante para que pudiera lavarse las manos y limpiarse la boca.
After she was done eating, I nicely asked her to help me take the plate to the kitchen and drop it on the table. She gladly obliged and did as asked. I got a small napkin and told her to help me wipe the small table clean. She did a good job but I still had to go over it once.

I made sure to teach her that it is important to clean up after eating. I told her after you finish eating, you clear the table of your dishes and take it to the kitchen, wipe the table of all food particles, and keep her seat back at the right position.
Me aseguré de enseñarle que es importante limpiar después de comer. Le dije que cuando terminara de comer, retirara los platos de la mesa y los llevara a la cocina, limpiara la mesa de todas las partículas de comida y mantuviera su asiento en la posición correcta.
She smiled and said okay. It is really the little things for me. It is a beautiful process and I enjoy every part of it especially since she has not gotten to the age of wanting to argue everything with mommy. Although, when we get to that bridge, we would cross it.
