Since I heard the announcement that HiveFest 2020 was going to be on a Virtual Reality platform I was looking forward to living the experience. I was not able to buy a VR headset for the event but that didn't stop me from having a great time. And trust me I am going to keep using this software because I have seen the potential it has.
I downloaded AltspaceVR from Steam back on November and I tried it for some minutes, I made my avatar and took a couple of pictures and moved around “my home” to test the basic controls. I liked how it looked, and it seems that my laptop had no problems running this software.
Twelve days before HiveFest started I was browsing Twitter and I saw an announcement that there was going to be a rehearsal and I decided to join this meeting. I made some friends and even though I was a little shy because I was not sure if I would have echo I talked with @detlev and @castleberry just before the event came to an end. I found it curious how some people, out of curiosity, joined the event and were asking about Hive, this started to spark some ideas.
Two days before HiveFest started I was invited by @thekingcoin to an event where many blockchain user talked about their projects. It was fun and interesting, I learned a lot and made some awesome crypto friends. This event was organized by a group of Blockchain users from Bolivia, and it was in Spanish, I gave a quick presentation about Hive, and then I talked with some users to answer their questions.
Finally, HiveFest started. I logged in at 9:30 am CST, had no problems redeeming my badge and decided to explore the space that was prepared for us. I was surprised by the level of personalization that the event had. There were a lot of nice details, kudos to @roelandp and the rest of the team for making this awesome place. I explored a little, visited the Photo Booth and then the Bitcoin Citadel, it was a futuristic city with a lot of cool things, what I liked the most was a Central Bank which was burning.
I returned to the lobby and found some friends, they were having problems redeeming their badge, until this moment I am not sure which was the problem, but the computer where they had to get their badge simply did not load for them. My friend @carlagonz was one of the users that was not able to do this, but she was able to see the presentations. The presentations started at 11:00 am.
The first day I was able to hear all the presentations, some of my favorites where the updates about the development of Hive by @blocktrades and @howo, there are very interesting things coming up in the next HardFork. Also, I was very glad to hear that @keychain is going to receive some updates in the near future, and it is going to be available on mobiles soon. @stoodkev was in charge of this presentation.
Also, I loved the presentation form @jarvie representing @peakd. Looking forward for the next updates of this frontend, which is one of my favorites. One of the final presentations was from Dan @qwoyn about his game @hashkings, even though I’m not into the Canabis world I found it interesting. After the presentations finished we went to explore one of the worlds. We made it through an amazing maze. It was fun! Later that day I was joined by @tripode and @emiliomorles, and they decided to explore the maze again with me. I am very bad at taking selfies and photos in this software!
For Day 2 of the HiveFest I was also very early, and I attended almost all the presentations. One of my favorites were the one by @threespeak team, @starkerz and @theycallmedan. I have to be honest, I understood half of the things they said, but I am very excited of what is coming soon with The SPEAK Network. I also liked the presentation by @khaleelkazi where he talked about the accomplishments and the future of @leofinance.
Sadly at about half the presentations of this day I had to log out to help my wife with some things and also I was very hungry and in a bad mood. When I had a chance to return everything was almost over and @themarkymark was doing his dad jokes, some of them were very funny.
At the end I decided to visit the NFT Showroom world because I wanted to take a selfie with an illustration made by my friend @equipodelta. There I talked with my friend @emiliomorles one last time and then decided to call it a day.
In all of these events I saw many curios AltspaceVR users that entered the events without knowing about Hive. I talked with some of them and shared my experience on Hive. This gave me the idea to start organizing and hosting AltspaceVR events and talk about Hive and promote the Blockchain and specific dapps. As a matter of fact @themarkymark and some other users are already doing this. I believe that this kind of promotion or efforts can be more effective than promoting on the traditional Social Media sites.

Desde que escuché el anuncio de que el HiveFest 2020 iba a estar en una plataforma de Realidad Virtual estaba ansioso por vivir la experiencia. No pude comprar unos visores de realidad virtual para el evento pero eso no me impidió pasar un buen rato. Y confía en mí, voy a seguir usando este software porque he visto el potencial que tiene.
Descargué AltspaceVR desde Steam en noviembre y lo probé durante unos minutos, hice mi avatar y tomé un par de fotos y me moví por "mi casa" para probar los controles básicos. Me gustó su aspecto, y parece que mi laptop no tuvo problemas para ejecutar este programa.
Doce días antes de que empezara el HiveFest estaba navegando por Twitter y vi un anuncio de que iba a haber un ensayo, decidí unirme a esta reunión. Hice algunos amigos y aunque era un poco tímido porque no estaba seguro de si tendría eco, hablé con @detlev y @castleberry justo antes de que el evento llegara a su fin. Me pareció curioso que algunas personas, por curiosidad, se unieran al evento y preguntaran por Hive, esto me empezó a dar algunas ideas.
Dos días antes de que empezara el HiveFest fui invitado por @thekingcoin a un evento en el que muchos usuarios de cadenas de bloques hablaron de sus proyectos. Fue divertido e interesante, aprendí mucho e hice algunos amigos cripto increíbles. Este evento fue organizado por un grupo de usuarios de Blockchain de Bolivia, y fue en español, hice una rápida presentación sobre Hive, y luego hablé con algunos usuarios para responder a sus preguntas.
Finalmente, comenzó el HiveFest. Entré a las 9:30 am CST, no tuve problemas para obtener mi gafete y decidí explorar el espacio que estaba preparado para nosotros. Me sorprendió el nivel de personalización que tenía el evento. Había muchos detalles agradables, felicitaciones a @roelandp y al resto del equipo por hacer este impresionante lugar. Exploré un poco, visité el Photo Booth y luego la Ciudadela de Bitcoin, era una ciudad futurista con muchas cosas geniales, lo que más me gustó fue un Banco Central que estaba en llamas.
Volví al vestíbulo y me encontré con algunos amigos que estaban teniendo problemas para redimir su gafete, hasta este momento no estoy seguro de cuál fue el problema, pero el ordenador donde tenían que conseguirlo simplemente no cargó para ellos. Mi amiga @carlagonz fue una de las usuarias que no pudo hacer esto, pero pudo ver las presentaciones. Las presentaciones comenzaron a las 11:00 am.
El primer día pude escuchar todas las presentaciones, algunas de mis favoritas donde las actualizaciones sobre el desarrollo de Hive por @blocktrades y @howo, hay cosas muy interesantes que vienen en el próximo HardFork. También me alegró mucho saber que @keychain va a recibir algunas actualizaciones en un futuro próximo, y que pronto estará disponible en celulares. @stoodkev estuvo a cargo de esta presentación.
También me encantó la presentación de @jarvie representando a @peakd. Espero las próximas actualizaciones de este frontend, que es uno de mis favoritos. Una de las presentaciones finales fue de Dan @qwoyn sobre su juego @hashkings, aunque no estoy dentro del mundo del Canabis lo encontré interesante. Después de que las presentaciones terminaron nos fuimos a explorar uno de los mundos. Logramos atravesar un laberinto increíble. ¡Fue divertido! Más tarde ese día se unieron @tripode y @emiliomorles, y decidieron explorar el laberinto de nuevo conmigo. ¡Soy muy malo para hacer fotos y seleccionar objetos en este software!
Para el segundo día del HiveFest también llegué temprano, y asistí a casi todas las presentaciones. Una de mis favoritas fue la del equipo de @threespeak, por @starkerz y @theycallmedan. Tengo que ser honesto, entendí la mitad de las cosas que dijeron, pero estoy muy emocionado con lo que viene pronto con The SPEAK Network. También me gustó la presentación de @khaleelkazi donde habló de los logros y el futuro de la @leofinance.
Lamentablemente en la mitad de las presentaciones de ese día tuve que cerrar la sesión para ayudar a mi esposa con algunas cosas y también estaba muy hambriento y de mal humor. Cuando tuve la oportunidad de regresar, todo estaba casi terminado y @themarkymark estaba haciendo bromas de papá, algunas de ellas muy graciosas.
Al final decidí visitar el mundo del Showroom de la NFT porque quería hacer una auto-imagen con una ilustración hecha por mi amigo @equipodelta. Allí hablé con mi amigo @emiliomorles por última vez y luego decidí irme.
En todos estos eventos vi a muchos curiosos usuarios de AltspaceVR que entraron en los eventos sin saber de Hive. Hablé con algunos de ellos y compartí mi experiencia en Hive. Esto me dio la idea de empezar a organizar eventos en AltspaceVR, hablar de Hive y promover la Blockchain y sus apps. De hecho, @themarkmark y algunos otros usuarios ya están haciendo esto. Creo que este tipo de promoción o esfuerzos pueden ser más efectivos que la promoción en los tradicionales sitios de medios sociales.

It was great to see you there and speak with you a bit brother! I had a great time even with all my technical setbacks. I think this will be the beginning of another great chapter in the Hive Blockchain Community story! I tried to make some research about it, I'm not a developer (yet) but I found it had to do with MRE (Mixed Reality Extension). And I just remember I was not able to distribute all my BEER tokens because I had to log out for a bit, too bad.
I hope that we can create more events like these but designed to onboard future Hivers, I bet that could work out Better than HiveChats.
Yes, you got it right. I did get my badge finally and then it disappeared. It was the thought that counts! hahaha I think that's a great idea. I had to log out and in so many times... it was probably for the best since my computer was getting so hot. =) I didn't get any beer... i must have been the designated driver! This place made me actually consider getting a VR set so that the future will be more agreeable with less technical difficulties. I wasn't complaining ever... i was happy to struggle together with the HIVE family! I had a blast. Let the onboarding begin! hahaha

I'm also planning on getting a VR headset soon, for what I've heard I think that it's a more immersive experience and I want to be able to move my hands and dance! hahaha
Pero que gran post, me encanto que decidieras hablar un poco de las presentaciones, yo pude escuchar la mayoría pero no ver las diapositivas, por lo cual se entorpece un poco la experiencia, voy a ver luego con detenimiento las grabaciones del hive fest.
Por otra parte @qwoyn hace todos los sábados si no me equivoco una presentación en altspace llamada la generación de las criptomonedas, y si estas pensando hacer algún evento en español, puedes contar conmigo porque también deseo seguir usando esta plataforma.

Es chistoso porque hice esta publicación desde casa de mis papás sólo con la pantalla de la laptop (estoy acostumbrado a usar dos pantallas) y se me olvidó por completo etiquetar bien a qwoyn jajaja. Ya lo corregí.
Y es cierto, el mencionó que está haciendo eventos, voy a contactarlo para preguntarle las fechas y por otro lado investigaré los requisitos para hacer un evento en ALtspace que sea en español y claro que te invitaré, también a @emiliomorles y a @tripode.

utilizar dos pantallas es lo mejor del mundo yo lo hago asi para mi trabajo, e incluso pienso que me encantaria usar 3 algun dia.

Sí, vimos que es efectivo porque hablas con las personas directamente, además hay un grupo de hispanos que usa mucho Altspace.
