Hive Torch Transfer #224

in Hivetorch3 years ago

Hehehe, as you can see on the following picture ...

hive torch.jpg

... I was carrying the decentralized flame this morning :) all around the house ... I got it at dawn, almost dawn actually, it was still dark ... from my very good friend here on HIVE, kind of best HIVE friend :) @agmoore

... and then, some minutes ago I sent it to another very good HIVE friend @qwerrie ... who is very active and publishes a lot of cool stuff from travels and urban street scenes to a wide variety of fungi, mushrooms, vintage stuff ... and much more ... the flame is in good hands ... and I'm curious to see where will go next ... This post will mark the 224rd transfer of the Hive torch.

In the following text, that I copied from who knows about Hivetorch more than me, @stayoutoftherz :) you can learn everything about this epic initiative.

Dear Hivers,

remember the social experiment called Steemtorch, started by @geekgirl and which I later copied to the #deutsch community as Steemfackel? The German branch made it after app. 2 months to 141 consecutive transfers, before it ended a bit abruptly. But the endeavor as such was very successful and created fun and lots of interesting posts. The original torch is presumably still ongoing with 290 of planned 337 passes (after the transfer from @fastchrisuk to @dawnoner I lost track).

The idea actually came from the Ligthning Torch where Satoshis were sent around (with big media attention!) and in Jan 2020 the Bitcoin Lightning Torch 2.0 was started.

Now we have a new, even more enthusiastic community here on Hive. Why not repeat the exercise and start a fresh HIVETORCH!

I am sure we can do better than Steem and Bitcoin. Let´s target 333 transfers!
By the way, the BTC Lightning Torch revealed some disturbing technical problems that we for sure don´t have!

What is it about?
The idea is that someone sends you a number of Hive to your wallet, and you transfer it as fast as possible to someone trustful who will be then the next Hivetorch keeper. That´s it. Very simple, isn´t it.

The Hivetorch is a social experiment to demonstrate the speed and trust in transferring value on the Hive chain (I bluntly stole this phrase from @geekgirl but it simply nails it). It´s mostly about our community and not about collecting money (that is just a side aspect). It is not brought to you from a central instance which is spending tons of money to desparateley create some activity (like on the other chain), but it is an initiative from inside the community for the community (I am neither a whale nor a witness nor whatever).
Also I hope we can be adults and keep out politics this time!

How far we can go? 200 transfers, 500? Even 1000? And by when? The sky is the limit, if all work together!

The rules

Number 1
If you got passed the Hivetorch to you, increase the amount by 1, leave it as it is, or add anything between 0 and 1. It is up to you. Don´t reduce the amount and don´t add more than 1 Hive - it is not about collecting money.

Number 2
Send the Hives as soon as possible to someone who is active on Hive and whom you trust that he/she will follow the rules and forward the torch to the next one.

Number 3
In the transfer, use this Memo
"Hivetorch - Count x - please read the rules at https://peakd.com/hive-147983/@stayoutoftherz/hivetorch"
whereby you increase the count no. by 1 (so if you got the memo with count "23" then put "24" in your memo).

Number 4
Choose as the next Hivetorch keeper preferably someone who has not yet been selected and inform him/her about the transfer, so that the torch is kept in motion.

Number 5
You are highly encouraged to create a post about the Hivetorch e.g. on peakd.com using the picture above or any other picture (the picture must contain both a torch and the Hive logo) and the tag #hivetorch. Please post it in the Hivetorch community.

Number 6
After 333 transfers I will create a poll to let the community decide what to do next (continue, give the sum to a Hive-related project, distribute to minnows, burn it, etc.)

And now :) before the end a few words about the picture ... I used the picture I found in the post from @agmoore ... and put one of my many old selfies on it ... I was very honored to carry a torch today ... I like this virtual place very much, never felt so involved in some social media stuff before ... have a good day ... or night ... wherever on the planet you are ...

!ENGAGE 50

Ah, good to see this thing has been still going on :) I was holding it too some time ago. But I didn´t have such a cool photo :D

26$ - nice for a post c&p largely from mine :)

Agree :) sometimes these unusual lucky situations fall seemingly out of nowhere when you least expect it ... I'm a big fan of sharing ... we can share the bounty :D

Nothing against that :)

:) so it will be

I collected the loot ... but it was all set to go directly in Hive power, so I'm waiting now for payouts of some posts after this one where I will get liquid Hive to send :) your part is coming soon ... relatively ... in a few days.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.
