Running in the rain

Ohh I can really enjoy some nice autumn weather! Today was such a day, strong wind & quite some rain but using the correct clothing and you should not really bother!

Tomorrow is this weeks main training (>30 km run) so today I took it easy on the pace and focussed on staying on a relaxed bpm.

While I am a big fan of the Shokz open run (pro mini) headset, mine seem to have broken down earlier this week. Only playing sound from the left side. While trying to get it sorted out with customer service I used my semi working set to completly ignore any rain or wind.
While for tomorrow another storm is expected and some weather warnings are in place I took an older pair of shoes today to prevent my good shoes to be all wet before my long run tomorrow! The contrast with my good shoes was so big, that I will use next salary to buy a decent second pair (there was no foam left haha)

Overall really enjoyable run today!

Will add my run for tomorrow in scheduled runs later today - plan for now is:

  • 10 min warming up (5:10 - 4:55)
  • 0 - 10 km (4:50 - 4:45)
  • 11 - 20 km (4:40 - 4:35)
  • 21 - 28 km (4:30 - 4:25)
  • 29 - 32 km (increase to 4:20 if feeling strong otherwise maintain 4:30 - 4:25)
  • 15 min cooling down (5:15 - 4:55)

Hope tomorrow goes as planned as it would provide a good mental boost towards breaking my pr!

Happy running!

What do you do when you get to those spots where the track is completely covered in water? Jump over or just run through it? Seems it would be annoying to run if your shoes and socks got too wet!

Haha yeah if it happens during the marathon I just run through it. Jumping & landing can then break your flow and the blisters can be dealt with afterwards!

During training I try to avoid it as best as I can without slowing down. Sometimes you can go around it, sometimes jumping over it and sometmes tough luck haha.
I expect tomorrow to be tough luck as I will be running in the dark so won’t be able to see them before it is probably too late.

When we go hiking, I try to carefully walk around or jump over. Of course my son intentionally jumps into every puddle he can find 😂

That is just beautiful right! Kids just don’t care or are not concerned about it! Honestly he is right haha! Fun!

It sure is beautiful! I learn so much from watching him. It's great to see kids being so carefree and living in the moment!
