I had scheduled a beach and dune run for today, but after a night of -10 C and lots of fresh snow, driving (on summer tires) was not an option for me. Nevertheless, today was such an amazing day! After the intense snowfall we actually got some nice sun! Perfect for some fun in the snow!

The last few days I ran with a similar strategy: find unpaved routes, use trailshoes and focus on having lots of fun.
Where the last few days my runs had been either early morning or evening runs I was able to do a run around lunch time today. This ment that while I still had to consider what could be below the snow and be a little careful with my hamstring, the vision was so much better - I decided to pick up the pace a little and train some zone 3 & low zone 4.

It felt really good to speed up a little bit - without overdoing it. While the zone 1 and zone 2 are priceless in terms of building a strong basis, some zone 3 work is great for your motivation!
Also the satisfaction of getting fresh snow on your knees when running in a little faster pace is hard to describe!

Happy running!
I have run in minus 14 in Japan but I could only handle 30 minutes before skiing and there was no chance of shorts, I felt the need to cover as much skin as possible.

Yeah! The experienced temperature can be making it a lot worse or better compared to the factual temp!
In my case the sun was letting me experience it as basicly a spring day! If there is no sun (or even worse if there is some wind) it becomes crazy cold really fast!
Again with the shorts 😆
It's very similar weather to here. Almost sound like the exact same, and looks the same too!
How do you keep the cold air from causing pain or discomfort in your airways and lungs?

Yeah Denmark looks quite alike! Can’t wait to explore it there aswell!
Yeah, protecting the lungs is important with these temperatures! My approach is to wear 2 layers of shirts (one long sleeved) and not push too hard. If I would do a real tempo run right now or even a strong interval, I would ask too much of my lungs. Staying at a pace where you would be able to talk normally would be a good indicator of a safe pace!
Still waiting for you here in Denmark 😉
That is good to know. Indicators like that are worth a lot! Due to my poor lungs, I got shortbreathed just by walking and talking if I walk at a decent pace 😂

I don't doubt that it is an incredible experience, I think it must be difficult to run in the snow, but I don't know
It is pretty similar to the loose sand on the beach (but colder) and you have to mind your step a little more (as it can be slippery).
All the snow looks beautiful! It doesn't snow where we live, the nearest is about an hour drive. That is a great combination running in the snow and sunshine at the same time.
Gorgeous snow day pictures! After the cold night it must have been that nice crispy snow to run through instead of soft and fluffy. You put some nice effort in the at zone three (low four), I'm glad to hear the hamstrings haven't been getting worse. I've never run in anything like that before where the snow kicks up on your knees. It must be quite an experience!
I honestly don't miss that white stuff, I'm glad you enjoy it still! Awesome post!

Fantastic pics... I love running in the snow!!
We only got a small amount in the UK yesterday, but was still amazing to walk/run in it
Looks awesome!!
There’s something incredibly satisfying about winter running, especially when it turns into pure fun instead of a plan.
