A Relaxing Beach Day in Pescara - Family Travel in Italy

Hello everyone. We started a new day of our holiday. After having breakfast, we got ready to head to the beach.

We brought our tent, air mattress and even my daughter’s unicorn float. It was really hot that day, so I kept my shirt on because I had gotten a bit sunburned and needed to give my skin some rest. Our beach was very close to our house, just a 5 minute walk away. The area was full of walking and biking paths, making it a great spot for sports. The previous day, we had walked along the coastal road and went as far as a bridge.

After setting up our tent, my little girl fell asleep inside it. Since it was hard to find shade on the beach, we also brought an umbrella. The day before, we had brought the umbrella but forgot the extension pole, so we couldn’t set it up. We became more cautious about the sun and our tent was large and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed playing in the shade inside the tent.

The sea was a bit shallow, but the water was very warm. My daughter had a great time swimming with her unicorn float and the sparkle in her eyes was priceless. There was a light breeze and small waves and then we all went into the water together. The beach wasn’t very crowded, mostly locals with a few German, French and Russian speakers. There were not many tourists, so it felt very peaceful. One of the main reasons I love Italy is because of places like this. Pescara is a bit off the beaten path, so it’s quieter and has fewer tourists.

One of the best things about Pescara is its beautiful beaches. Most of them are free, which is a huge advantage for our holiday budget. The general prices in the city are also quite reasonable compared to other touristy spots in Italy. This made it easier for us to manage both accommodation and food. The food in Italy is an experience in itself and Pescara did not disappoint in this regard. Everything we ate in the restaurants was delicious, especially the pizzas. The thin-crust, topping-loaded pizzas are still lingering in my memory. The fresh seafood and local dishes were also worth trying.

However, there was a small disadvantage: our daughter’s early bedtime. This made it a bit difficult for us to go out for dinner comfortably. By the time dinner time came, our daughter was already asleep. So, we didn’t always get to fully enjoy the restaurant experience. Nevertheless we loved every moment we spent in Pescara. Sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the sea, eating ice cream and walking through the streets of the city all brought us immense joy. While we were a bit restricted with dinner, it didn’t overshadow our overall holiday experience.

During the hottest hours of the day, we left the beach to avoid the sun and returned to our accommodation. We quickly prepared a simple lunch and ate it with pleasure. After lunch it was a great opportunity to relax and rest, both to protect ourselves from the sun and to gather energy for the evening beach session. Some took a nap, while everyone rested according to their preference. As the sun’s intensity began to decrease and the air cooled down in the late afternoon, we were eager to return to the beach. This way, we had survived the hottest part of the day and were ready to enjoy the sea and sand during the more pleasant hours.

In the evening we returned to the beach. Although we had gotten a bit sunburned, we still continued to enjoy the sea. My daughter felt a little scared because it was her first time experiencing this. We helped her relax by covering her head and comforting her. Afterward we all had so much fun together in the water. For the evening, we decided to do some shopping and order pizza.

During our shopping trip, we discovered a new store. It was a bit pricey, but it had some really unique items. We especially loved the pistachio yogurts. It was something we had never tried before. My daughter fell asleep, probably from exhaustion. And once again, we had an amazing pizza, just as delicious as the one we’d had the day before.

That day was a bit calmer, but we remained cautious. Since we had all gotten a bit of sunburn while sunbathing, we were more mindful about sun protection. Despite this, everything was wonderful. The waves were smaller and the water was pleasantly warm. We tried to make the most of every moment during the holiday and the kids, especially, were having a blast. My spouse and I also enjoyed the sea to the fullest.

We didn’t do anything particularly extraordinary here, but we are creating beautiful memories together. We’re planning to visit a new place the next day and I’ll continue sharing updates from our holiday.
