Today is a memorable day for us as it is the very first graduation in our little family. Our little Miss A has now officially graduated kindergarten! 🥰

I have been contemplating whether to join the graduation ceremony because let's face it, I have adulting to do 😂 I mean, we still have 2 little boys at home that we need to take care of, and since we don't live near family and there aren't many friends who are available today (hello, it's Sunday and many are in church or have other affairs), I almost gave up asking and finding help.

But when you pray and ask for help, God is faithful to open doors.

A family friend of ours who happen to also be our next block neighbor said yes, and so after much thought and preparation we dropped off our 4 year old and 10 month old for about an hour or so so that I could attend our daughter's graduation.

Eeeeekkkk!!! Screams in excitement

It was a mixed feeling being in a small classroom hall awaiting the students to make an appearance as parents sat quietly. After the homeroom teacher started her introduction and officiated the start of the graduation day, she welcomed the children in.

As a gentle musical accompaniment ushered the little ones in with their graduation gowns, you could feel the atmosphere ease up and entered into an almost magical rainbow land. The scene would trigger the waterworks.

After some sharing by the homeroom teacher, the children were then invited to the stage to give their thanksgiving to all teachers and parents.

Next up, they then put up a performance for 3 songs. To see them perform with such grace and loud singing voices, truly, the Good Book says that children are the closest to heaven. We saw a glimpse of heaven in those moments.

It was such a beautiful performance.

After the tear-jerking performance, it was time to receive their graduation scroll from their headmistress.

It was a short and sweet time of just basking in joy with everyone. The homeroom teacher even made a beautiful tribute to all the children who have been in the class since 2019. Truly, it hasn't been easy for all. Some joined half way and stopped due to the pandemic, but it didn't stop them from rejoining the class once things eased up again.

Our Miss A experienced the same, too. Lots of ups and downs on her learning journey throughout the last 2 years of kindy school life. But God is good, all is still well. We are all here in the end.

Everybody went around taking pictures with everybody 😂 It was fun to see all the parents of the cute classmates, finally being able to put some of the faces to the names we've been seeing in the teachers parents chat group.

Of course, how could we forget getting pictures of us with the little graduate! Don't we dare!

So grateful for such short yet wonderful kindy school journey, looking forward to seeing her soar higher and enjoy learning in primary school next month!

Oh, how my baby has grown 😭😭😭

I don't know whether kindergarten graduations are popular in America. I don't think so, but my youngest is nearly 30 so who knows what might have changed over the years? My children were home schooled most of the time, so only one of them went to public school kindergarten, and I don't recall any ceremony.

It's a pity you all had to wear masks. Twenty years from now you'll be so sorry you couldn't see that adorable smiling little face. On the other hand, others here on Hive have written about graduation ceremonies being completely canceled because of Covid outbreaks. So at least your little girl was able to participate in hers. Congratulations to her (and to you!) on reaching that milestone!

Thank you! Yes, I believe the education system has and still is evolving. It's such a shame that all of us had to mask up during the ceremony, but at least their framed graduation photos aren't :) We're grateful that the ceremony happened, I was told other schools resorted to graduation via ZOOM or drive thru. My little girl got to meet up with all her classmates and teachers and said their goodbyes. No complaints. Haha!
