The night under this huge tree was very pleasant.
Small acorns were regularly detached from the tree in the middle of the night.
I could hear them falling, rubbing against the foliage and hitting my tent as they fell on them.
On the morning, I discovered the villa Savorelli, located above this huge volcanic tuff rock, which overlooked the amphitheater.
I took out my watercolors to begin painting the amphitheater from a bird's eye view.
While I was painting, many tourists visited the monument as well as the Villa Savorelli.
I particularly liked that over the years, the vegetation has taken over the stone and I wanted to accentuate the idea, with a foreground of grass and foliage.

When night came, the artificial lighting of the amphitheater created a very different atmosphere.
The trees, rooted on the tuff rock, absorbed the moisture of the soil, which made it a privileged place to bivouac.
I set up my camp there for this and the next ones.

La noche bajo este enorme árbol fue muy agradable.
Las pequeñas bellotas caían regularmente del árbol en medio de la noche.
Podía oír cómo caían, rozando el follaje y golpeando mi tienda al caer sobre ellos.
De mañana, descubrí la villa Savorelli, situada en la cima de esta enorme roca de toba volcánica, que daba al anfiteatro.
Saqué mis acuarelas y me puse a pintar el anfiteatro a vista de pájaro.
Mientras pintaba, muchos turistas visitaron el monumento y la Villa Savorelli.
Me gustó especialmente que, con el paso de los años, la vegetación se haya apoderado de la piedra y quise acentuar la idea, con un primer plano de hierba y follaje.

La notte sotto questo enorme albero è stata molto piacevole.
Dall'albero cadevano regolarmente piccole ghiande nel cuore della notte.
Li sentivo cadere, sfregare contro il fogliame e colpire la mia tenda mentre cadevano su di loro.
Ho poi scoperto la villa Savorelli, situata in cima a questa enorme roccia di tufo vulcanico, che dominava l'anfiteatro.
Ho preso i miei acquerelli e ho iniziato a dipingere l'anfiteatro da una prospettiva a volo d'uccello.
Mentre dipingevo, molti turisti hanno visitato il monumento e la Villa Savorelli.
Mi piaceva particolarmente il fatto che nel corso degli anni la vegetazione avesse preso il sopravvento sulla pietra e volevo accentuare l'idea, con un primo piano di erba e fogliame.

La nuit sous cette immense arbre a été très Agréable.
De petits glands se détachaient régulièrement de l'arbre en pleine nuit.
J'entendais dans leur chute, les frottement avec le feuillage et les impacts sur ma tente quand ils leur tombaient dessus.
Je découvris ensuite la villa Savorelli, située au dessus de cette énorme rocher de tuf volcanique, qui surplomblait l'amphithéâtre.
Je sortis mes aquarelles pour commencer à peindre l'amphithéâtre en vue plongeante.
Pendant que je peignis, de nombreux touristes ont visité le monument ainsi que la villa Savorelli.
J'aimais particulièrement qu'au fil des années, la végétation est pris le dessus sur la pierre et j'ai voulu accentué l'idée, avec un premier plan d'herbes et de feuillages.

La nuit venue, les éclairages artificiels de l'amphithéâtre créaient une atmosphère très différente.
Les arbres, enracinés sur la roche de tuf, absorbaient l'humidité du sol, ce qui en faisait un lieu de bivouac privilégié.
J'y installait mon campement pour cette et les prochaines.
