Greetings to everyone in the lovely Hive community. I begin my journey on this platform by introducing myself. Civil engineer by profession and writer by vocation, my name is Aura Rosa Grimán, also known as A. R. Grimán (my pen name as a writer).
I am from Venezuela, specifically from Barquisimeto, and I came to Hive thanks to the philosophy event that took place last December at the Decanato Experimental de Artes y Humanidades at UCLA university. I attended this event out of simple curiosity, as lately I have been participating in various activities at the mentioned university, as I hope to come back to my studies there in the coming months, but this time in the field of psychology.
You might think I'm a bit crazy for jumping between professions, and the truth is, perhaps I am hehehe. Currently, I am proud to say that I am a black sheep, but it wasn't always like this. I spent many years trying to fit into molds that didn't suit me, and that's why it was hard for me to discover who I really was (I'll leave that story for another post). But in short, I studied Civil Engineering under pressure from my family to pursue a profession "worthwhile". I immersed myself in the sciences, refusing to accept that my life was in the arts and humanities. Of course, I had a tough time, but it was an obstacle I managed to overcome, and along the way, I realized that my talent lies in writing, which is what I am currently dedicated to.
I am a novelist, my favorite genres are fantasy, mystery, and romance. Likewise, I work as a ghostwriter (in short stories and books of different genres), SEO articles for websites and blogs, I have worked as a writer and translator of different types of texts, and I have experience as a copywriter in marketing agencies. I also provide advice and editing to independent writers. Most of my works are published on different reading platforms, some under contract, others independently and for free. Last year I published my first physical novel as a self-publication called Starlight, which tells the story of a girl and her struggle against depression caused by her parents and her partner with narcissistic personality disorder. It is a story inspired by my personal experiences. You can find the book on Amazon Kindle or directly through me if you are in Venezuela (and soon in some bookstores in the country).
On the other hand, I have been interested in psychology since I was very young. I love reading and have always enjoyed learning new things related to this field. However, it was not until last year that I made the decision to study this career. After discovering the disorder that my parents and my now ex-partner suffer from, I went through a period of therapy where I learned many things, but mainly the importance of mental health. I want to become a psychologist to help people in the same way my psychologist was able to help me. My life is completely different now, I can say that I am very happy, and I feel that in some way I have a mission in the world. I know that my stories have the characteristic of being able to touch people, I have learned this through the comments I constantly receive, and that is why I believe that educating myself in such important but little-known topics like narcissism, in addition to my personal experience, will allow me to reach many people who may need a friendly hand to get out of the same darkness I was once in.
For now, I give thanks to God and life for granting me the opportunity to be here, to learn new things every day, and to start my journey in this community where I hope to grow and meet wonderful people with whom to share great experiences.

Saludos a todos en la linda comunidad de Hive. Inicio mi viaje por esta plataforma presentándome. Ingeniero civil por profesión y escritora por vocación, mi nombre es Aura Rosa Grimán, también conocida como A. R. Grimán (mi seudónimo de escritora).
Soy de Venezuela, específicamente de Barquisimeto y llegué a Hive gracias a la jornada de filosofía que realizaron el pasado diciembre en el Decanato Experimental de Humanidades y Artes de la UCLA. Asistí a dicho evento por simple curiosidad, ya que últimamente he estado participando en las distintas actividades que se realizan en la mencionada universidad, puesto a que espero retomar mis estudios allí en los próximos meses, pero esta vez, en la carrera de psicología.
Creerán que estoy un poco loca por saltar entre profesiones y la verdad, es que quizás sí lo estoy jejeje. Actualmente me siento orgullosa de decir que soy una oveja negra, pero no siempre fue así. Pasé muchos años intentando encajar en moldes que no iban conmigo y por eso me costó descubrir quién era realmente (esa historia la dejaré para otro post), pero en resumida cuentas, estudié Ingeniería civil por presión de mi familia a estudiar una profesión “que valiera la pena”. Me metí en las ciencias negándome a aceptar que mi vida estaba en las artes y humanidades. Por supuesto, la pasé bastante mal, pero fue un obstáculo que logré superar y en el camino comprendí que mi talento está en la escritura y es a lo que actualmente me dedico.
Soy novelista, mis géneros favoritos son la fantasía, el misterio y el romance. De igual manera, realizo trabajos como ghostwriter (en relatos y libros de distintos géneros), artículos SEO para webs y blogs, he trabajado como redactora y traductora de distintos tipos de textos y tengo experiencia como copywriter en agencias de marketing, además brindo asesorías y edición a escritores independientes. La mayoría de mis obras se encuentran publicadas en distintas plataformas de lecturas, algunas bajo contrato, otras de manera independiente y gratuita. El año pasado publiqué mi primera novela en físico como autopublicación llamada Luz de estrellas, la cual narra la historia de una chica y su lucha contra la depresión causada por sus padres y pareja con trastorno de personalidad narcisista. Una historia inspirada en mis experiencias personales. El libro lo pueden encontrar en Amazon kindle o si están en Venezuela, directamente conmigo (y próximamente en algunas librerías del país).
Por otra parte, desde que era muy pequeña me gustó la psicología. Me encanta leer y siempre he disfrutado de aprender cosas nuevas relacionadas a esta área, sin embargo, no fue hasta el año pasado en que tomé la decisión de estudiar esta carrera. Tras descubrir el trastorno que padecen mis padres y quién es ahora mi ex pareja, pasé por un periodo de terapias en donde aprendí muchas cosas, pero principalmente, la importancia de la salud mental. Quiero convertirme en psicólogo para ayudar a las personas de la manera en que mi psicólogo pudo ayudarme a mí, mi vida ahora es completamente distinta, puedo decir que soy muy feliz y siento que de alguna manera tengo una misión en el mundo. Sé que mis historias tienen la característica de poder tocar a las personas, lo he aprendido gracias a los comentarios que recibo constantemente y por eso creo que educándome en temas tan importantes, pero poco conocidos como el narcisismo, además de mi experiencia personal, me permitirán llegar a muchas personas que quizás necesiten una mano amiga para salir de la misma oscuridad en la que yo estuve.
Por el momento, doy gracias a Dios y a la vida por concederme el estar aquí, aprender cosas nuevas cada día y comenzar mi viaje por esta comunidad en donde espero crecer y conocer a gente maravillosa con las cuales compartir grandes experiencias.

I sometimes feel that we are considered black sheep only within the narrow scope of our surroundings and culture. When we stretch out and gaze across the globe we find that we are but one in a tribe of similar minded folk.
