I hope you're having a great day.

I used to publish my original poem long ago and I published some of my English poems at that time.
But I don't think I ever published any of my Bengali poems.
So here I'm showing one of my Bengali poems with the English translation so that everyone can understand what I wished to express through the poem.

I hope you (the readers) will like this poem so much.

"বাল্যকাল"	"Childhood"
তখন হয়তো ছিলাম বারোতে	Maybe I was at twelve then
যেতাম এদিক সেদিক বেড়াতে,	I would go back and forth,
মন চাইতো শুধুই উড়তে	The mind just wanted to fly
দিন যাইতো খেলতে আর খেলতে।	Days went through sports.

দিনগুলি ছিল বহুরঙা	The days were multicolored
দেখতাম চেয়ে ওপাড়ের ডাঙা,	Used to see the land of other side,
পড়ার ভয়েতে হাত ভাঙা	Broken hands for fear of reading
সময় পেরোলেই ভিষণ চাঙা।	Became strong after passing the time.

থাকতো না কভু মন পড়ায়	I would never have the mind in study
উড়তো এ পাড়ায় আর ও পাড়ায়,	Used to fly in this & that neighborhood,
খুজতাম নিজেকে পাখির ডানায়	I searched myself on the wings of a bird
চাইতাম না যেতে কভু বিছানায়।	Never wanted to go to bed.

বিকেল পাড় করতাম ব্যাট আর বলে	Spent the afternoon through cricket
সকালে স্কুলে যেতাম হেলে দুলে,	Used to go to school swinging,
বেঞ্চে বসে দেখতাম আর ভাবতাম	Watched & thought sitting on the bench
পাশের মেয়েটা যদি একটু কথা বলে।	If the girl next bench talks a little.

চালাক অথবা বোকা যা ই হোক	Be it clever or foolish
জানি ছিলাম আমি একটু লাজুক,	I knew I was a little shy,
থাকতাম না মেয়েদের কাছাকাছি	I did not live near the girls
যতোই স্নো পাউডার মেখে সাজুক।	Applied as much makeup as they liked.

অনেক কিছুই চাইতাম না বুঝতে	Didn't want to understand much
ব্যস্ত থাকতাম নতুন জিনিশ খুজতে,	Was busy looking for new things,
হয়তো মায়ের আচল খুজে ভাবতাম	Maybe I was looking for my mother's cloth belt
পারতাম যদি ছোট্ট মুখখানি মুছতে!	Thinking If I could wipe the small face!

ছোট ছিলাম বলে রাগ হতো খুব	Was very angry because I was young
ভাবতাম বড় যে হব কবে,	Thought when I will be big enough,
হেসে হেসে তখন বলতো সবাই	Everyone used to laugh and say
হাই স্কুলে নাকি উঠেছি সবে।	I just got up in high school.

নিজেকে এখন বড়-ই মনে হয়	Became a man right now
ছোট্ট শরীরটাও উঠেছে বেড়ে,	The small body has growing,
এখন সব উল্টে গেছে; কারণ	Now everything is upside down; cause
চাইছি এখন সেই দিনগুলি ফিরে।	Now I want to go back to those days.

It's a poem of 32 lines that I wrote at 13.01.2016.
I used to write lots of poems at that time and this is one among the lot.

I will try to share more of my poems soon that I wrote long before when it was the golden time of my writing poems.
