Adapting Quarantine Learning Environments: My Home School

in GEMS4 years ago

Friends of @Gems, today I want to share with you how to create a pleasant learning environment at home, for the boys during this quarantine and make them feel pleased when carrying out their activities. This change in terms of the study modality has brought the encounter of different feelings since they miss their school and we teachers miss them. I hope we meet again soon...

With the quarantine we were forced to reorganize ourselves, to change our routine and, therefore, to reorganize our lives. With this, the need to adapt the environments in the home so that we can work and study was essential at that time. Especially since we are with our family at home and with the emotions altered by the confinement.

Thinking about it, my advice today is how to establish a conducive study environment to carry out our students' studies.

Why not establish a classroom, a home school? If the answer is "How?", I will give you suggestions so you can put it together in a very easy way. Obviously, the school environment is fundamental for the development of the students, because there they interact, socialize, develop speech, they are encouraged to solve problems and follow a routine, which is very important for children.

But in this moment of quarantine, we have to adapt. Allow me, then, to suggest how we can do this in a calm, fun, and meaningful way to carry out the proposed activities.

  • Find a calm and neutral environment.
  • Set up a table and chair, it can be small, large, as you have it available at home.
  • Make posters with numbers, letters or something interesting to put up
  • Make pencils, crayons, rubber, blunt scissors, glue available for activities.
  • If the environment is close to the living room and television, the device should be turned off at the time of the activity, as well as all devices that have sound, to avoid student distraction.
  • When doing activities, it is important that the child receives help from a family member. This person should explain the purpose of the activity as the educator would advise at school.
  • Encourage creativity and encourage the child to think, solve problematic situations, draw conclusions. It is important that you do so, that you think, even if, in your opinion, it is not correct.

According to Vygotsky, the cognitive development of the student occurs through social interaction, that is, through his interaction with other people and with the environment.

With these tips, the quarantine period will be enjoyable, full of discovery and learning, and we'll be back together again soon.
