Hello everyone! How are you? Today I'd like to show you my tour of the beautiful Plaza Bolívar in Valencia, Venezuela. It's considered one of the most beautiful squares in the country after its restoration and beautification in 2023, as they completely renovated it. This square remained hidden from the public eye for quite some time (to build anticipation), and when they finally removed all the fencing, we could see the wonderful additions. Obviously, since two years had passed since the square's reopening after the renovations, I had already seen it, but due to my work commitments, I had never had the time to explore it fully and examine it closely.
¡Hola Hola, gente de internet!¿Cómo están? Hoy me gustaría mostrarles mi recorrido por la hermosa plaza Bolívar en la ciudad de Valencia (Venezuela) considerada como una de las más bonitas en el país luego de su restauración y embellecimiento en el año 2023, ya que honestamente la reformaron por completo. Esta plaza permaneció por un buen tiempo oculta a los ojos de todos los ciudadanos (para generar expectativas) y cuando finalmente le quitaron todo el cerco pudimos ver las cosas maravillosas que le habían añadido. Obviamente al haber transcurrido dos años desde que reinauguraron la plaza luego de las reformas, yo ya la había visto, pero debido a mis ocupaciones con el trabajo, nunca antes había tenido tiempo para recorrerla entera y revisarla detenidamente.
The monolith is still there; obviously, it's a cultural, architectural, and national heritage site, so they weren't going to modify it. But they've planted tons of flowers and tropical plants around it that contrast beautifully with the blue sky, so that's a 10/10 for me because I think it looks really aesthetically pleasing. There are also signs indicating the origin of some of the trees and shrubs, which were brought directly from the San Pedro Alejandrino estate in Colombia, the place where Simón Bolívar (our liberator) died in 1830.
El monolito sigue estando allí, obviamente eso es un patrimonio cultural, arquitectónico y nacional, así que obviamente no lo iban a modificar, pero a su alrededor pusieron muchísimas flores y plantas tropicales que contrastan con el azul del cielo, así que eso es un 10/10 para mi porque me parece que quedó muy aesthetic, pero además hay algunos carteles que indican la procedencia de algunos árboles y arbustos, los cuales fueron traídos directamente desde la hacienda San Pedro Alejandrino en Colombia, lugar en el que falleció Simón Bolívar (nuestro libertador) en 1830
There are also several beautifully crafted relief monuments that tell the story of our city, such as the capture of Valencia by the Spanish in 1814. At that time, Simón Bolívar ordered General Urdaneta to defend the city with his life until Bolívar and Santiago Mariño arrived. Another monument depicts the arrival of José Tomás Boves, a murderer who ordered the execution of many people, including the city's civil governor. These monuments remind us of the importance of the land we walk on, telling us that every place is full of incredible stories, some terrifying and others heroic.
También hay varios monumentos en relieve con un arte bellísimo, que sirven para contar la historia de nuestra ciudad, como por ejemplo la toma de Valencia en 1814 por parte de los españoles, en ese entonces Simón Bolívar le ordenó al general Urdaneta defender la ciudad hasta con su propia vida hasta que él llegara junto a Santiago Mariño. También en otro de estos monumentos se puede ver representada la llegada de José Thomás Boves, un asesino que ordenó la ejecución de muchas personas, entre ellas el gobernador civil de la ciudad. Estos monumentos nos recuerdan la importancia del suelo que pisamos, nos dicen que cada lugar está lleno de historias increíbles, algunas aterradoras y otras heroicas.
The floor is already a bit worn from the intense sun and constant foot traffic, but I like seeing people always sweeping and even mopping it. When the plaza was reopened, it looked much more polished.
El piso ya está un poco desgastado por el intenso sol y el tráfico de personas constantemente, pero me gusta ver que siempre hay personas barriéndolo y hasta trapeándolo. Cuando reinauguraron la plaza se veía mucho más pulido.
Over there, in the background, there's a giant screen that broadcasts live football matches or any event of great importance to the country. It's very exciting because people come from all over and gather here to have some fun.
Allá, al fondo hay una pantalla gigante en la cuál transmiten en vivo partidos de futbol o cualquier evento de mucha importancia para el país, es muy emocionante porque vienen personas de todas partes y se conglomeran aquí para divertirse un poco.
Las aéreas verdes están preciosas, llenas de árboles, arbustos y algunos animales como pájaros, palomas, ardillas y hasta iguanas. Detrás de mi, aunque casi no se ve, está la hermosa catedral.
La plaza no solo es un pedazo de historia viva, sino un oasis de paz en el cuál todos podemos relajarnos y descansar un poco en medio del ajetreo, las compras y las diligencias que las personas hacen a diario, pero también tiene un valor sentimental extra para mi porque recuerdo que cuando mi mamá me llevaba a clases de Ballet y pasábamos por aquí de vez en cuando, era común encontrar a mi abuelo sentado en alguna banca mientras alimentaba a las palomas, permanecía un rato allí, descansando y ya luego se iba a su casa.
