Merida, The Beauty of Muchichies || Venezuela

in GEMS4 years ago (edited)

Hello hive love, following on from the last publication today, I would like to tell you about another of my trips to the beautiful places of Venezuela.

This time I will tell you about one of my visits to the Paramos Andinos, San Rafael de Mucuchies, Merida State, Sierra Nevada National Park.

I have to confess that I have never been able to reach the city of Merida, because the charm of the Paramo catches me and I stay there happily, far from everything in the middle of its beauty.

Its climate, its people, the landscape and the peace of the mountain are really fascinating.

In Merida you can find the highest cable car in the world and the second longest, the Mukumbari Cable Car which means in the Indian language, place where the sun sleeps, its final station reaches the mirror peak 4,800 meters above sea level. Next to this is Pico Bolivar, the highest peak in Venezuela at 4978 meters, the weather can reach -12g° in the snow season.

I recommend that if you plan to travel to Merida and want to visit the cable car, you should buy your tickets in advance through the official website. I could not visit it this time, really because the tickets are sold out.

This was not a very planned trip. I am one of those people who is always willing to pack up and go on an adventure.

Stone Chapel

This beautiful stone chapel is at the entrance of the village of San Rafael de Mucuchíes and is a tribute to the Virgin of Coromoto, made by the popular culturer Juan Felix Sanchez.

In this stop we find the Mucuchies dogs, which bears the name of the area, this breed is part of history is a unique mixture and is the official breed of dogs in Venezuela.

The liberator Simon Bolivar in his travels for the independence fight in America, arrived to the region and adopted a Mucuchies dog, which was named Nevado, this dog accompanied him in battle.

The Mucuchies are of great size, strong and robust, they are imposing and tender animals at the same time.

Nevado died on June 24, 1821, in the battle of Carabobo, a heroic dog that fought in this and other battles, which sealed the independence of Venezuela.

My nephew Cristian asked me to buy him a Mucuchies, the detail is that they are not dogs for the city, nor apartments, they can measure between 50 to 70 mst of height and think between 30 to 50kg.

I love them too. Maybe in the Casa Verde we can have one, since the climate is mountainous, cool climate with fog, a climate that a Mucuchies will enjoy.

Mucubaji Lagoon

This one you have to visit is of glacial origins and it is spoken of about 10 years of antiquity, this to 3500 meters on the level of the sea, I will not be able to show you photos of this beautiful lagoon since this day there was much fog on it and the photos were failed, you do not see anything.

We had the joy of seeing a beautiful Andean Condor, flying over the lagoon, this is one of the biggest birds in the world, its wings can measure up to 3 meters, unfortunately they are in danger of extinction. I really feel lucky to have been able to admire its beauty, its majestic flight, this bird I had only seen in captivity. Something I certainly hate, birds must live in complete freedom.

There are many other places to visit in Mucuchies, the planetarium, the monuments to Nevado, Plaza Bolivar, the eagle's peak which you can reach by road being a little more than 4100 over the sea, where there is a monument to the condor and you can admire the beauty of the peaks and mountain ranges, in the way there are craft stalls and typical food of merida.
