I LIKE TO WATCH #20 - Big In Japan

in GEMS3 years ago

Andy Warhol one said that in the future, everyone would be famous for 15 minutes. With the advent of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, social media now makes that prophetic statement possible.

Big In Japan explores the fascination the country has with "talented" foreigners. This is a place where down on their luck westerners can find a second career and even become stars in this TikTok age. "Going viral" can happen in an instant, after uploading a short video and seeing it swarmed with likes and shares.

Our hero is Dave from Melbourne, Australia. He describes himself as just an ordinary guy and is known as such by his friends. Through a geeky character, his filmmaker friends decide to see if they can make him famous in Japan. He has a certain bemused, geeky look that makes him memorable to everyone he meets. So with that said, our motley crew decide to decamp from "the land down under" and set out for the bright lights of Tokyo.

You'd be surprised at just who's made it in the country and achieved the level of celebrity that was denied them at home. Can a regular Joe or in this case Dave make it Big In Japan? I encourage you to take some time and give this fun little documentary a look. Who knows? it may just inspire you to head to the land of the rising sun to see if you can make it Big In Japan! If Ladybeard can make it, anybody can!

Thank You So Much!
