My state Pennsylvania, is expected to be one of the principal battlegrounds if not the deciding one. The President won by just a whisker here in 2016 and is looking to for another upset again. Will his knack at drawing huge enthusiastic crowds work for him again? Or will public dissatisfaction in his handling of the coronavirus send him packing? I fully expect the unexpected, including the Supreme Court possibly playing a part in deciding the winner just as it did in 2000.
A classy speech
That year, democrat Al Gore could have further contested the election outcome but ended up respecting the decision of the court. His graceful concession speech helped heal the nation and left a lasting legacy for us all. In America, we like our heroes to be humble and I include this shining moment where Vice President Gore led by example:
Let's hope all of the bluster about "Stand back and stand by" is just that. If Biden loses, I have no doubt that he will support the winner for the good of the country, let's hope the other side does the same.
