Yesterday morning was rather warm compared to the recent days. The winds picked up pretty strong and had cleaned most of the snow and ice from the trees though we still got bombed a bit.
@stryeyz was in her studio getting stuff printed for the party and I headed up to talk to her. I got near the studio and the dog was barking incessantly at hte fence and when I looked closer I saw this head and two little horns staring back at me. He was nestled down at the base of the tree and was just staring at Jax as he barked his fool head off. It wasn't until one of us got closer to the fence that it stood up then slowly moved off.
I presume it is just used to our presence which is why it was so mellow. Though it did have an arched back, it held its tail out to the side a bit, and seemed a bit lethargic. It wandered off up the hill after a while
Thankfully the boys had friends come to their party at the Deer Park fire station. We ended up with the conference room which was just the right size for the number of kids that were there. @stryeyz had setup a game for them to work through and at 12:30 I went down to the store for the cupcakes then to the Pizza Factory for pizzas. My timing was right on the money and I was soon back with everything.
The kids all had fun, ate a bunch of sugar, drank a bunch of non-caffeinated soda, and mowed through the pizza. A couple parents stayed and we all had a bunch of good conversations until close to 2pm when we cleaned up and soon were headed for home.
J's classmate got the boys each a Minecraft Lego set that they set about putting together as soon as they were in the house.
Nicely we had leftovers for dinner. The pizza place that started in my home town in California, was THE place to work at in high school, and supported many of the local schools has a franchise in Deer Park. It is one of those core memories of my life, the smell of that original place, the flavor of the crust and the pizza, playing arcade games. It is so nice to walk into the local one and it feels just like the original.
Today is crunch day as we are looking at up to 2 feet of snow this week so I have to get the wood all split and the farm ready for that much snow. I have today and tomorrow before the deluge so need to be busting my ass to make sure to be ready for it.
