How Playing Chess Can Keep your Mind Sharp.

I’ve never been a fan of chess. When I was younger, I just couldn’t get into it. The pieces all looked the same, and it seemed like I spent more time setting up the board than actually playing. I eventually came around, and now I play chess whenever I can.

One of the reasons I started playing chess is because I wanted to keep my mind sharp. We tend to think of chess as a game for old people, but it’s not. Playing chess can actually keep your mind sharp, even if you’re in your twenties.

Why is playing chess good for your brain?

Chess teaches you how to make decisions. In chess, your opponent is the king, and it’s your job to beat them. You don’t have a coach sitting behind the board telling you what to do. In chess, you have to make decisions on your own. Your opponent is always a possibility. You also have to be careful about making bad moves, or your opponent can beat you by doing something that would look obvious to an untrained eye. Using your wits, you can find a way out of almost any problem. It’s only by playing chess regularly that you learn to understand and use your brain. Playing chess is a lot like math. Math problems require you to be mentally sharp and to make quick decisions. But even a math problem can be solved if you can get your mind wrapped around it.

What are the benefits of chess?

According to an article in Psychology Today, playing chess regularly can:

  • Give you a healthy dose of competition.
  • Increase your heart rate.
  • Boost your intelligence.
  • Give you valuable life lessons.
  • Enhance your memory.
  • Give you better judgment.

Are you interested in keeping your mind sharp, especially in your late 20s and early 30s? Sure, who would say no to that? What can you do to play chess regularly? Whether you’re 20 years old or 55, chess can help you get mental fit and healthy, to increase your IQ, and to give you more life lessons.

Play chess every day.

Make time for playing. If you play chess, take a and hour or two out of your week to sit down and play a few games. If you’re still in your twenties, you probably have a lot more free time than I did when I was your age. That’s a big advantage, and you should take full advantage of it. Set yourself up for success.

If you know you play chess, make sure you have your chess board available wherever you go, and with smart phones, tablets and laptops, you can play just about any place, any time.

Other Games like Chess.

There are a lot of chess apps and websites that can help you train and learn chess. If you’re not interested in learning chess, there are plenty of other games that you can try that are designed to keep your brain active.

Here are a few games that I recommend. Board Games. Even if you just want to get in the spirit, board games like Candy Land, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Clue are fun and engaging. They’re also great for getting out of your normal routine. More over, reading.

Reading is another great way to keep your mind sharp. Whether you read fiction or non-fiction, reading keeps your mind active and engaged.

We all have different life rhythms, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone is different, and everyone has their own pace. The main takeaway with this article is that you should be doing things every day to keep your mind sharp, and chess is a great way to do this.

Conclusion.

1 - Playing Chess is a really great way to improve your chess game (LOL :P ) and, consequently, 2 - your cognitive abilities. If you’ve played chess, or you’re interested in learning, I hope you’ll start today, or play more games, and perhaps in time become a chess playing force to be reckoned with!

I do hope you found this article insightful and thanks for reading.

Ok, I am off to play my Sunday game of chess, see you all soon. :)

Much Love,

I have had on my list for a while to build a chess game website based on hive..

Yes! Do it!!
You can mint a token for each type of chess piece, then as you play, you can win... And loose thoes tokens!!!

Posted using Dapplr

That's a good idea!
Where do I find documentation on how to mint tokens?

Mm.. at that point it would become like gambling though with all the issues with the regulators..
