A VENEZUELAN IN BUENOS AIRES/MY PRESENTATION
Para el momento de escribir esta nota, noviembre de 2.021, me encuentro residenciado en Buenos Aires, capital de la República Argentina, como parte de los más de 4 millones de venezolanos que hemos emigrado en búsqueda de mejores condiciones de vida. Dejarlo todo atrás para aventurarse a un nuevo comienzo en tierras desconocidas, no es nada fácil. De hecho, no lo ha sido, pero lo afrontamos con fe y decisión.
At the time of writing this note, November 2,021, I am living in Buenos Aires, capital of the Republic of Argentina, as part of the more than 4 million Venezuelans who have emigrated in search of better living conditions. Leaving everything behind to venture to a new beginning in unknown lands is not easy. In fact, it has not been, but we face it with faith and determination.
Como dejé ver, soy venezolano, orgullosamente venezolano, a pesar de las circunstancias por las cuales pasa actualmente nuestra patria. Las raíces de mi familia se asientan en el único Estado insular del país, el Estado Nueva Esparta, donde nací en el año 1.955, en la isla de Margarita, un verdadero paraíso en el mar Caribe, Isla de gente trabajadora; hermosas y cristalinas playas; folklore, costumbres y tradiciones profundamente arraigadas en la población y una infraestructura orientada al turismo con opciones realmente atrayentes.
As I can see, I am Venezuelan, proudly Venezuelan, in spite of the circumstances our country is currently going through. My family's roots are in the only island state of the country, the State of Nueva Esparta, where I was born in 1955, on the island of Margarita, a true paradise in the Caribbean Sea, an island of hard-working people; beautiful and crystalline beaches; folklore, customs and traditions deeply rooted in the population and an infrastructure oriented to tourism with really attractive options.
Producto de ese origen tan próximo al mar, hijo de pescador, amo el mar, la pesca y disfrutar de los bellos atardeceres que solo se viven en el trópico, sobre la línea del horizonte marino. Acá en Buenos Aires, no puedo dejar de acercarme a las riberas del río de La Plata, mirar con nostalgia la inmensa masa de agua que fluye incesante, se mueve levemente, formando pequeñas olas, batida por el viento, y probar suerte en la pesca de especies fluviales mientras la imaginación me trae el recuerdo de las playas marinas de mi tierra natal.
As a result of that origin so close to the sea, son of a fisherman, I love the sea, fishing and enjoying the beautiful sunsets that can only be experienced in the tropics, on the line of the sea horizon. Here in Buenos Aires, I can't help but approach the banks of the La Plata River, look with nostalgia at the immense mass of water that flows incessantly, moves slightly, forming small waves, beaten by the wind, and try my luck fishing for river species while my imagination brings back memories of the sea beaches of my homeland.
Antes de salir de mi país, desarrollé mi vida en las aulas de clase y pasillos de instituciones educativas. Graduado en un instituto universitario pedagógico como profesor en la especialidad de ciencias sociales, mención historia, me dediqué a la enseñanza con vocación y conciencia de la importancia de dicha labor en el proceso formativo de las futuras generaciones. Me entregué a esa profesión durante 42 años, dejándola solo al momento de emigrar. En ese tiempo dedicado a la labor docente, llegué a ejercer diversos cargos de responsabilidad administrativa, inclusive coordinando actividades culturales y recreativas.
Before leaving my country, I developed my life in the classrooms and corridors of educational institutions. Graduated from a pedagogical university institute as a professor in the specialty of social sciences, mentioning history, I dedicated myself to teaching with vocation and awareness of the importance of such work in the formative process of future generations. I dedicated myself to this profession for 42 years, leaving it alone when I emigrated. During that time dedicated to teaching, I held various positions of administrative responsibility, including coordinating cultural and recreational activities.
En la actualidad, después de las restricciones que impuso la pandemia del coronavirus, en largos periodos de cuarentena, me dedico en particular a la lectura de clásicos de la literatura, novelas de corte costumbrista, algo de historia e investigo, vía internet, de todo un poco. Esta disponibilidad de tiempo me ha permitido escribir algunas líneas, más que nada como algo parecido a breves ejercicios literarios.
A partir de este contacto inicial con HIVE, como canal de comunicación y encuentro, agradeciendo a @ Rutablockchain y a @ bluemist por su programa de adopción, es mi intención aportar un poco de mis inquietudes literarias, algunos trabajos en mosaiquismo, así como experiencias personales, tanto de mi país de origen, como del país que tan generosamente me ha dado cobijo; para esto cuento, como apoyo, mi vieja cámara fotográfica, mi compañera de viajes…
At present, after the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, in long periods of quarantine, I dedicate myself in particular to the reading of literary classics, novels of costumbrista style, some history and research, via Internet, a little bit of everything. This availability of time has allowed me to write a few lines, more than anything else as a sort of brief literary exercise.
From this initial contact with HIVE, as a channel of communication and encounter, thanking @ Rutablockchain and @ bluemist for their adoption program, it is my intention to contribute a little of my literary concerns, some works in mosaicism, as well as personal experiences, both of my country of origin, as of the country that has so generously given me shelter; for this I count, as support, my old camera, my travel companion...
