Tutorial como construí un corral para pollitos // tutorial on how to build a chicken pen

Hola amigos. Cuando comencé hace poco en Hive e hice mi presentación, expresé el hecho de que utilizaría mi blog para compartir algunas de las cosas que hago en mi vida cotidiana. Por lo tanto está vez quiero compartir con ustedes la construcción de un pequeño pero muy cómodo corral para criar pollitos.

Hello friends. When I recently started on Hive and made my introduction, I expressed the fact that I would use my blog to share some of the things I do in my daily life. So this time I want to share with you the construction of a small but very comfortable pen to raise chicks.

Tengo unas gallinas en mi casa que comenzaron a producir hace unos meses atrás, pero tenía un problema y es que cuando sacaban sus pollitos éstos con el pasar de los días se morían por enfermedad o se perdían, producto de posiblemente un gavilán y algún otro animal que se los comía, pero en fin, había muchos decesos de los pollitos, pues los criaba sueltos en el patio.

I have some hens in my house that started to produce a few months ago, but I had a problem and that is that when they took their chicks out, they died of illness or were lost, possibly due to a sparrow hawk or some other animal that ate them, but in short, there were many deaths of the chicks, because I raised them loose in the yard.

Teniendo en cuenta lo que sucedía con mi cría de pollos decidí hacer un corral para criarlos ahí, pues tenía varias gallinas echadas y no quería perder mis pollos.

Considering what was happening with my chickens, I decided to make a pen to raise them there, because I had several chickens laying and I did not want to lose my chickens.

Tomando un espacio en el fondo de mi casa, busque un pedazo de tela metálica, unos zinc viejos, corté una madera (palos), alambre y algunos clavos y di "play" a mi pequeño proyecto.

Taking a space in the back of my house, I found a piece of wire mesh, some old zincs, cut some wood (sticks), wire and some nails and gave "play" to my little project.

Tome la tela metálica y rodeé el espacio que sería el corral, para tapar la parte de abajo y que no se escapara algún pollito utilicé el viejo zinc, lo pique con una tenaza de modo que encajara de forma horizontal con el suelo y que tapara hacia arriba unos 70 centímetros de la tela metálica.

I took the wire mesh and surrounded the space that would be the pen, to cover the bottom so that no chick would escape I used the old zinc, I cut it with pliers so that it would fit horizontally with the ground and that it would cover upwards about 70 centimeters of the wire mesh.

Los palos o madera lo utilicé para reforzar la tela metálica y en zinc, de modo que quedara bastante firme.

I used the sticks or wood to reinforce the wire mesh and zinc, so that it would be quite firm.

Como estamos en el periodo lluvioso en Venezuela también necesitaba un techo para cubrirlos de la lluvia. Tomé un zinc suficientemente largo para que los cubriera y se lo puse como techo.

As we are in the rainy season in Venezuela I also needed a roof to cover them from the rain. I took a zinc sheet long enough to cover them and put it as a roof.

Para culminar no podía faltar un bombillo para mantenerlos calientes en las noches, pues se los quité a las gallinas con unos 10 días de vida aproximadamente. Tome un cable y lo empaté a una cablería que pasaba cerca del corral y logré ponerles luz.

Finally, I had to have a light bulb to keep them warm at night, because I took them away from the hens when they were about 10 days old. I took a wire and tied it to a cable that passed near the corral and I was able to give them light.

El resultado final fue un pequeño corral donde ahora crío 40 pollitos, demostrando que con interés todo se puede hacer.

The end result was a small pen where I now raise 40 chicks, proving that with interest anything can be done.
