School Finally Resumes Physically! A Lot Still Pending To Be Learnt!! Result's Out!!! 😱

Hello everyone, trust I meet you all doing good?

After three (3) months of delayed resumption for the second semester as a result of the covid-19 outbreak within the school premises which claimed three college's staff lives, the school management finally agrees to permit physical resumption back on campus. The news about the resumption came later then expected so we all were eager to resume. The turn up on the first day was massive and even lecturers came at us with full force and with extreme workload. It was an exhausting first day of resumption. Despite the two (2) months plus of online classes conducted so far, we haven't still been able to cover up to half of the syllabus for most courses.

receiving lectures

The Head of Department (HOD) was the first lecturer to take us on the day of resumption. He came at us angrily making us realize that we still have a lot left to be covered in his course and told us we haven't been serious at all. I observed he was angry at student who were distracting his class, which was unlike him. He also took his time to go over and over again on his explanation. Our HOD was someone who doesn't even mind those who distract his class in the previous semester and doesn't even stress himself re-explaining whatever we don't understand, he just does his thing on a low-key and takes his leave. But all of a sudden he seems to have changed this semester. I knew within me something was wrong.

In a practical class

Indeed something was wrong. It was later on I got an hint that our result was poor and it seem the HOD has been queried. His class really set us on a pace that this semester is going to be extremely hectic and fierce. We had two other classes including practicals. Overall the first week of resumption was activity filled and stressful. We were all in anticipation to see our result the following week. Although we already got an hint that we all didn't perform well and that there is no student with a distinctive grade. But majority of us doubted that fact that no student had distinction. I also doubted πŸ˜‚.

students gathered to check their result on the notice board

Oh! Well, the result was finally out and everyone gathered to see what the outcome of their previous semester's effort was. Some people rejoiced, while it was the opposite for some. Some wishes they had put in more into that particular course, some regretted, some accused the lecturer for falling them, and lot more. There were all kind of emotions and reactions flying around in the air. My department level result was released quite late that day. I already left the school premises when it was released. But a course mate already took the picture of the result and sent it to the class group chat. So I don't have to go back to the school premises to check or wait till the next day before I saw my result.

I and @shamzy (my course whom I recently introduced to hive)

I wasn't scared to to see my result. I immediately downloaded the file sent and searched for my matriculation number to see what I got. The first thing I was on a look out for was the grade point (GP) to know where I belong. The grading from top to to bottom is Distinction, Upper credit, Lower credit, Pass, and Fail. I discovered my GP was sitting on Upper credit. The next to was to be sure I didn't fail any course. I checked that too and my mind was settled. But deep down I wasn't still feeling too good with my grade point. I went on to confirm if no one truly had distinction and it was true. I also proceeded to check the result of every individual in my reading circle and they all were on upper credit too. I felt relived and happy. I even got more happier and grateful to God when I discovered that only nine (9) students had upper credit which was the next preferable garde after Distinction, and everyone in my reading circle were among the nine (9) students.

My reading circle

Although my grade point was the least among my reading circle, buy notwithstanding I'm still encouraged. This present semester would really be a challenging one because a lot were disappointed by their performance and everyone would want to strive harder for a better grade point in this present semester. I'm just hopeful my extra effort this semester would count and yield greater positive result πŸ™‚.
