This is my entry for #beautifulsunday created by @ace108 and #thaiphotocontest80 hosted by @thaiteam. I rushed to the river just in time to enjoy the evening sunset by the river. I took the local minibus which went along the narrow lanes flanked by old houses built about eighty years ago. It’s the best way to have a glimpse of old local community which used to depend on canal systems. I wondered whether these narrow lanes used to be small canal where rowing boats used to mingle years ago. This narrow lane emerged about twenty meters away from the main river (Chao Phraya River) in Bangkok. If I were to live in the old days, I would have to hire a rowing boat to get me to the pier by the river! That would have been a very nice experience as along the canal would be covered with trees and small huts with lots of birds, squirrels and fish in the water.
I had to walk about ten minutes to the pier inside a temple called Wat Yannawa which has a private pier and big courtyard. Usually there would be lots of school children playing in the courtyard and visitors taking photos at the pier. With so much fear about the pandemic, there was hardly anyone at the pier which gave me ample space to take my photos.
There are lots of pigeons around the pier as there’s a stall selling fish food pellets to visitors who would like to feed those lazy fish around the pier. These fish won’t swim very far abs are used to being fed everyday. Some fish are longer than an arm as they have been there for over ten years. That’s why the pigeons gathered around to pick on the pellets which have been spilled onto the ground. So, the pigeons have become fat and lazy too.
เราต้องการดูพระอาทิตย์ตกดินที่ริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยามาก เราก็ต้องรีบเดินทางไปถึงท่าน้ำที่ใกล้ที่สุด แถวนั้นหาที่จอดรถยาก เราก็เลยขึ้นรถเมล์เล็กไปตามถนนสายรองเพื่อหลีกการจราจรติดขัดที่ถนนใหญ่ ข้อดีคือเราได้ดูบ้านเรือนเก่าๆ และวิถีชีวิตดั้งเดิมที่ยังวิ่งร่องรอยไว้บ้าง เราได้ดูชาวบ้านธรรมดาที่อยู่กันอย่างเรียบง่าย บ้านแถวนี้ค่อนข้างเก่าจึงไม่มีความหรูหราเหมือนบ้านสมัยใหม่ที่มีราคาแพง สมัยก่อนถนนนี้คงเป็นคลองที่ชาวบ้านพายเรือออกไปสู่แม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาได้ เราลงจากรถเมล์เล็กแล้วเดินต่อไปอีกเกือบสิบนาที ก็ไปถึงท่าน้ำของวัดยานนาวา เราไปทันชมพระอาทิตย์ตกดินพอดี
ที่ท่าน้ำไม่ค่อยมีคนเหมือนแต่ก่อน คนกลัวติดไวรัสเป็นโควิทกันมากจนไม่กล้าออกไปไหน เราก็เลยเดินสบายมาก บรรยากาศเงียบสงบ มีแต่นักเรียนจากโรงเรียนแถวนั้นที่มาเดินเที่ยวกับเพื่อนๆ แต่ที่นั่นมีนกพิราบมากไป เป็นเพราะที่ท่าน้ำมีร้านขายอาหารปลา คนที่มาเที่ยววัดก็ชอบซื้ออาหารปลาเทลงไปในน้ำ ให้ปลาแถวนั้นกินเป็นการทำบุญ อาหารเม็ดก็ตกกระจายไปตามพื้น นกพิราบก็มาจิกกินกันจนเคยชิน ปลาก็ไม่ว่ายนํ้าไปไกล มันก็รอกินอาหารทุกวันจนตัวใหญ่มากเท่าแขนคน ส่วนนกพิราบก็อ้วนจนบินไปหาอาหารกินเองไม่เป็นแล้ว เราใช้เวลาเดินเล่นชมวิวและถ่ายรูปประมาณครึ่งชั่วโมง แล้วค่อยเดินไปหาของกินแถวบางรักต่อ ย่านนี้เป็นอะไรที่มีทุกอย่างพร้อมสรรพ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวิวสวยๆริมแม่น้ำ ร้านอาหารอร่อยๆ ร้านขายขนมไทยและฝรั่ง ร้านกาแฟ ร้านจุ่มแซบ ตลาดนัดขายของถูกด้วย มาเดินแถวนี้เหมือนได้เที่ยวเต็มที่จริงๆ
After having a nice quiet walk and soaking up the good vibes by the river, I walked back towards Robinson mall to get some snacks and do some shopping for the evening. The evening flea market is the best place for snacks, street food and sweets. The evening entertainment cost very little and the sunset was the added bonus when the sky was not so cloudy. The water currents were moving en mass at a fast speed with full force of nature. I hope this river will always be there to sustain millions of lives who unwittingly have been taking good things in life for granted.

As much as I HATE the dirty, smoggy air t this time of year, it does need to be said that it gives such beautiful sunset colours and soft light. Always there is some beauty to be found of e choose to see it.
