Yesterday afternoon, June 19, 2025, in Cumaná, Sucre State, was marked by the strength of storm number 6. Early on, forecasts warned about the arrival of heavy rains, but no one imagined the magnitude of the disaster that was coming. Everything looked clear with a single radiant light, suddenly everything began to change with a strong breeze that brought gray clouds and it became dark as if it was about to get dark and it was barely 1:00 in the afternoon.
La tarde de ayer 19 de junio del 2025 en Cumaná, estado Sucre, fue marcada por la fuerza de la tormenta número 6. Desde temprano, los pronósticos alertaban sobre la llegada de fuertes lluvias, pero nadie imaginaba la magnitud del desastre que se avecinaba. Todo se veía claro con un solo radiante de pronto todo empezó a cambiar con un fuerte brisa que trajo nubes grises y se puso oscuro como que fuese a anochecer y a penas eran la 1 de la tarde.
At first I sat down to watch it rain and drink and eat coffee and bread but then I went home to watch it rain from the window. Immediately the news began to invade the networks, the streets, which normally have a normal daily life, quickly turned into overflowing rivers. The heavy rain and the breeze not only flooded the roads, but also knocked down trees and electric poles, cars went into culverts leaving many without electricity and without communication and others with their cars stalled. The feeling of fear gripped everyone, not only those who were on the streets, but also those who, although in their homes, were horrified that the trees could harm them, all this while listening to the roar of thunder and seeing flashes of lightning illuminating the sky, although these were few, the strong breeze and the amount of water was the most worrying thing.
Al principio me senté a ver llover y tomar y comer café con pan pero luego entre a casa para ver llover desde la ventana. De inmediato las noticias empezaron a invadir las redes, las calles, que normalmente tienen una vida cotidiana normal, se convirtieron rápidamente en ríos desbordados. La lluvia tan fuerte y la brisa no solo inundó las vías, sino que también derribó árboles y postes eléctricos, carros se fueron en alcantarillas dejando a muchos sin luz sin comunicación y otros con sus carros estancados. La sensación de temor se apoderó de todos no solo los que estaban en las calles , sino de aquellos que aunque en sus casas veían con horror que los árboles los pudieran perjudicar y todo esto mientras escuchaban el estruendo de los truenos y veían destellos de rayos iluminando el cielo aunque estos fueron pocos lo fuerte decla brisa y la cantidad de agua era lo mas preocupante.
At my home, the ground quickly filled with water. The stiff breeze caused the trees around us to sway dangerously, and I feared that one might fall on our property. That afternoon and evening was a frightening reminder of the power of nature and how vulnerable we are to it. Nature is indomitable.
En mi hogar, el terreno se llenó de agua rápidamente. La brisa fuerte hacía que los árboles a nuestro alrededor se mecieran peligrosamente, y temía que alguno pudiera caer sobre nuestra propiedad. Esa tarde y noche fue un recordatorio aterrador del poder de la naturaleza y lo vulnerables que somos ante ella. La naturaleza es indomable.
My pets were terrified as thunder and lightning made them run all over the house and the smallest one managed to get under the bed until everything calmed down. Despite the fear and uncertainty, we are all at home looking out for each other and remembering the importance of unity. My heart goes out to those who also suffered damage and losses in this storm, to those who had to spend nights away from home, to those whose cars were damaged.
Mis mascotas estaban aterrados los truenos y rayos las hacían correr por toda la casa y la más pequeña logro meterse bajo la cama hasta que todo pudo calmarse.A pesar del miedo y la incertidumbre, todas estamos en casa cuidandonos unas a otras recordardo la importancia de la unidad. Mi corazón está con aquellos que también sufrieron daños y pérdidas en esta tormenta que tuvieron que pasar noches fuera de casa, a los que sus carros sufrieron algun percance.

And you are absolutely right, in moments like these we remember the importance of family and community togetherness, that it is good to have contingency plans, to protect pets and to be vigilant until everything gets better (when it rains hard in my city I get very anxious for the animals that are in the street) 😢 🐶 🐱 🐦
I hope you and your neighbors are well, I live in Zulia and there has always been the fear of “the lake overflowing” and although that has never happened I do understand the fear of the water and what it can do, hopefully the material losses in Sucre are not so many ~

That’s a sad experience
I don’t like to complain about rainy weather because of how much I complain about the sunny days they but have their own advantages and disadvantages . Rainy days can be so scary sometimes
There is a limit to everything. A calm rainy weather is fine. But rainy weather with strong winds and disasters is not.
