Hello, Dear Hivers | Hola, Queridos Hivers
Yesterday was my first rehearsal as @edwardstobia new violinist, and it was fantastic!
Some weeks ago, Edwards called me to ask if I could be his violinist for a future show he's preparing. I had my doubts because, besides being already busy with the competition and the choir, I'm a slow music reader, which makes me very nervous at the time of accepting a job with my violin. After some time, and some chatting I said yes, and to my surprise, this job required more hearing than reading, and I'm very good at hearing!
It was an interesting rehearsal. We started with "Ojos Amarillos". I was at 0%, but thankfully I had the song in my phone, and after listening to it quickly, I got the intro and other parts, but not all of them, of course. So later they sent me the violin track so I could learn it complete by ear, and... I already did 👏
After that, they began with one I hadn't heard before. This one didn't have a violin part arranged, so it is my job to arrange it. While rehearsing it they stopped several times to correct some stuff, and then took it from the top, which helped me get to know a little more the song and be able to at least improvise something in the chorus section, which I did, and they liked what I did! It felt great. They even joked saying if I was really from the orchestra lol.
The next one was pretty complete, in my opinion. It has a little violin solo almost at the end, which would really fit the song, but for the rest, it is perfect like that.
For the last one of that rehearsal they did tell me what to do. It wasn't a violin thing, but since the guitar wasn't doing it anymore, I got to play it with a little funky touch hehe.
It sounded pretty decent for a first rehearsal, and I think this is gonna be a great experience!
