The first typhoon is coming closer - Or: Number 8 is aiming high

in GEMS3 years ago

Tomorrow is supposed to be the day when typhoon number 8 arrives, and it is just starting to race almost exactly through our prefecture. Just now it started to rain, and it will probably increase until tomorrow. And it's probably going to be really stormy from tonight on, but there's not that much that can fly away in front of our house, and I will take away the rest soon.

So typhoon number 8. All tropical storms get a number here and by the end of the season there are usually 2 or 3 dozen typhoons razing throughout Southeast Asia. Fortunately, most of them do not reach Japan, but pass further south. The Philippines gets hit way more often, and China and Taiwan also have the misfortune of being hit by typhoons frequently with much more damage. And the South of Japan is also more likely to be affected than we are here in the more northern part of the country.

But number 8 isn't coming up from the south, it's going to attack from the east and then move across the main island of Honshu, let's see how much strength it has left after it makes landfall. In any case, it will be quite uncomfortable tomorrow, especially very wet and stormy. But fortunately I don't have to leave the house, so I'm already on the luckier side.

At the moment it's still pretty quiet outside and I wouldn't mind if it would stay that way. The actual typhoon season will actually start in autumn and until then I happy to wait for a while. Actually, I am quite optimistic that in a few days the sun will go out again and shine and sizzle like before, and we then can hang out on the beach once more. For today I'll just close and wait and see how it will look tomorrow morning.

Stay safe folks and have a great day!

The typhoon season has come to Japan, it seems. It has been pretty hot there, so it will bring some cool air. Well, maybe it may become even warmer and more humid after the typhoon, though. I hope it will not affect many people as well as the Olympic Games.

Fortunately it wasn't bad at all. Thanks a lot for your concern.
But now it is getting even hotter over here. Have a good weekend!
