How can you forget the feeling of those arms that held you, twisted you in the air, and carried you by the hand every day to school?
A pair of feet that accompanied you to ride the roller coasters in the parks, that encouraged you to run in the vernaculars of the school and that lifted you up while you learned to swim.
One day the sun came up and those legs stopped moving on their own. They were no longer continuous steps, but slower and more muffled. You didn't understand why those legs were resting in bed, or why they couldn't go out and play when you wanted them to.

You were growing up, there was no strength left for his hands to support your weight, there was no stability to hold himself in the pool either. Little by little you were losing everything.
That baby who was carried by strong arms two days after her birth did not notice her father's absence the day she came into the world. Much less did she know why he was not there.
She had never glimpsed a future where she was going to go through that. He thought that all those implements that helped him walk were to bear the fatigue, not because he could not walk without them.

That little girl had to learn not to count on her father running after her. She had to get used to the fact that she had to help her mother with the shopping and cleaning of the house.
That girl with such a young age was already stronger than her frame seemed, but not necessarily by exercise, but by courage and inner strength.
From that day on she did not accept a "you can't handle it" as an answer. Because she had seen herself on the stage lifting her father after he had fallen. She had learned about medication at a young age, as she had to get her medications to him at the right time.

She was never scared of being in a hospital, because constant visits by her father due to health relapses were normal for her. It was much less difficult for her to adapt to staying at her grandparents' or relatives' house many nights because her parents were not home.
It was her turn to comfort her mother while she was crying in a waiting room, after ten (10) hours waiting for the door to be opened in an announcement from a doctor. "Dad's going to get through this, as usual," she said, and her mother only nodded in response.
For her it became normal to slow down to walk next to him, to know how to put away a walker or adjust a wheelchair. She knew how to face the looks of those who saw her father with pitiful eyes and the constant questions everywhere about what had happened to leave him in that condition.

This young woman is now a woman, and she has an unbreakable spirit, the fruit of all those years in which she learned to overcome obstacles and cry in silence when necessary so as not to frighten her parents.
She does not need help, has become independent and continues to gain experience. She finds a creative solution to everything, she knows how to take care of herself, but above all, there is no room for weakness in her life.

¡Hola amigos Hiver's!

Hello, Hiver's friends! How are you today? I hope you enjoyed reading this little post that I wrote with much nostalgia.
That little girl the story's about, that's me. A little obvious, right? And it's a moment that certainly made a difference in my life.
My father, after suffering a fall, had to undergo a spinal operation, which due to medical malpractice did not come out correctly, forcing him to undergo another number of operations in later years. On the day of my birth, my father was one month old and could not move to be with my mother at the time of delivery. He welcomed me with great joy when I arrived home (or so they say hahaha)

He spent eight (8) years of his life well, with pains at times that were few and far between. Until the day he went to get my Little Brother out of his crib and was stranded, bent over and unable to return to an upright posture. There began a long road of medical history to rule out possible illness.
Currently, we still don't know what he has. Ironic, right? His case has been taken to international trauma conferences but has not had any accurate diagnosis. The closest we can get to it is the formation of fibrosis by his body in the vertebrae of his spine, which compresses his nerves and causes him to fall and faint involuntarily.
Why am I telling you all this? Simple, to show that the disability is only in the mind. My dad was able to stay in a bed hoping not to move anymore, but he didn't accept it, he got up and went on with his life. Maybe it cost him a lot of falls and excessive tiredness, and days where nothing soothed his pain. But he always made sure that his family did not lack anything

His health is impressive, compared to the hopes given by the doctors. He had his hard years where he could not move around without a wheelchair, but today he can walk considerable distances with a walker only.
He didn't miss any of his children's events, he accompanied them in the races, even if he was joking while walking at a snail's pace. If he had to climb stairs, he did so with the greatest of willingness. If a light bulb had to be changed, she would climb on a chair with strength to do it.
Most importantly, his mind never stopped working. He always saw beyond what his motor skills could provide. He found a solution to stay home and keep working. He learned to enjoy life without holding a grudge against the person who had put him in that condition.

No Medicina).

He is the example in which I saw myself reflected in my adulthood, he is the reason why I am demanding, and why I am also stubborn as a mule. He never allowed me to say "I can't handle this" or even accept it from someone else's mouth.
For him and many other reasons I decided to study Nursing (Yes, Nursing. No Medicine). He had to give up the fear and be my "Test Patient" when I was only in the second semester of my career. If he doesn't doubt me and my capabilities, why should I?
The barriers and impediments you place on yourself. Never let anyone determine what you are capable of achieving.
A hug!
