Once upon a time, James Clavell's novel "Shogun" introduced me to the wonderful world of Japanese culture, refined, restrained, poetic. And with the life of the Japanese, with their ability to manage "small", while doing it "beautifully".
Of course, I studied "History of Asian and African countries" at the Faculty of History of USU, but it was one of my least favorite subjects, especially because of the abundance of dates and difficult names for the European ear. Therefore, we can say that my acquaintance with Japan began precisely with Clavell's book.
Well, when this exhibition took place in our Verkhoturye State Historical and Architectural Museum - Reserve (VGIAMZ), I could spend hours looking at, and, of course, “feeling” the exhibits (because I participated in the design of the exposition)).
The exhibition is generally unique in itself. Most of the exhibits were collected by ordinary residents of Japan and donated so that a particle of the culture of the "Land of the Rising Sun" was present on the Ural land, pleased with its beauty and diversity. Some of the exhibits were kindly provided by the Embassy of Japan to Russia. Several items are of particular value, as they were personally presented by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado Hisako of Japan during her visit to Yekaterinburg for the matches of her country's national team as part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The exhibition featured samples of samurai weapons, kimono, traditional Japanese dolls, calligraphy, ceramics and household items, more than 200 items in total. I chose these for a photo report from a variety of photos, otherwise I would have to make a whole photo album.
Enjoy watching !
