El mundo se ha conmocionado con la noticia de la muerte de Isabel II monarca de Inglaterra cerrándose un importante ciclo en la era contemporánea de la humanidad. Que este inédito evento sucediera en una época en la cual todo evento es público y masivo gracias a presencia de una gran red comunicacional nos va a permitir apreciar uno de los rituales más impresionante de la historia. Hasta este momento la mayoría de la población mundial solo ha visto este tipo de exequias a través de las versiones que nos ha brindado Hollywood o a través de las maravillosas páginas de libros históricos.

En cualquier sitio dónde uno se pare, este acontecimiento es el tema principal de cualquier tertulia. Diversos son los enfoques que le dan los hablantes, abundan las especulaciones sobre las causas, que si el príncipe Carlos debe o no sucederla en el trono, que si el chamo Harry debe regresar al palacio etc. Sin embargo, de una tertulia me llamo la atención la frase de una persona contemporánea conmigo el cual se refirió a la frialdad de los ingleses. Dijo este amigo aún estaba Isabel II en lecho de muerte y ya el Carlos diciendo que era Rey. Quizás sea la primera vez que veamos la puesta en práctica la famosa frase Ha muerto la Reina Que viva el Rey. En lenguaje criollo decimos a Rey muerto, Rey puesto. Esta acción nada tiene que ver con que si los ingleses son fríos o que si fuesen latinos tuvieran que llorar y deprimirse vario años para demostrar que si quería a la madre. Se trata de El Poder, no puede haber un vacío de poder ni siquiera de minutos, por eso se toma un primer juramento al heredero al trono junto al lecho de muerte de su antecesor. Es tan importante la reafirmación del poder que la primera acción que realiza el nuevo monarca Carlos III es ir raudo y veloz a recorrer los cuatro principales Territorios de Gran Bretaña: Inglaterra, gales, Irlanda y Escocia. En estos encuentros se reúne con los parlamentos, las fuerzas armadas y los nobles para garantizar su fidelidad al nuevo rey, luego se continuara con los funerales.
En la misma tertulia hablamos sobre esa formación que reciben los reyes para planear con anticipación como serán sus funerales. Los grandes reyes han dedicados grandes horas de planeación y grandes cantidades de recursos económicos para asegurarse su legado para la posteridad. En este momento les pregunte a las personas que disfrutábamos de la tertulia acompañados de un sabroso café: ¿Han pesado como serán sus funerales?, ¿Han pensado como quieren ser recordados de después de la muerte?. Las respuestas en su mayoría fueron cargadas de esas creencias y supersticiones muy propias de los latinos: Coño mi pana sobre la muerte no se piensa, Cancelado el tema, zas eso trae pava, Solo tú vives pensando esas vainas, etc. Creo que es la gran separación entre los grandes hombres y los simples mortales. Entre los que piensan en dejar un legado para las próximas generaciones y entre quienes están más pendiente de subir una foto.

Las sociedades tienen los líderes que se merecen, y estos son el reflejo de sus seguidores, en los próximos días veremos a millones de ingleses haciendo grandes manifestaciones de tristeza y luto por su monarca, pero eso sin estatuas, ni poniéndole el nombre a cuanta escuela o sitio público construyan.

Ciertamente cuando muchas sociedades alcancen la madurez de pensar en su prójimo, en la nación y no en los intereses personales, en el verdadero sentido de lo que significa la identidad nacional, en ese mismo momento se habrá madurado como sociedad y seguro las tertulias serían diferentes y se tendría una reina,¿y por qué no?, mientras tanto se seguirá..... y que siga el entierro.
