El Guayoyo Mañanero
En la vida he tenido la oportunidad de degustar las diversas formas en que se puede elaborar el café, con leche, marrón, guarapo, cortado, tetero, marrón claro, marrón oscuro, cerrero, negro o negro corto y el apreciado guayoyo.

El guayoyo mañanero que se preparan en los pueblos, sin tanto cálculo como los Baristas, El Guayoyo que despierta a la familia y la empuja a las actividades diarias. Es ese guayoyo que despabila nuestra amada Venezuela. Son los guayoyos con los que los peones de las fincas se levantan a ordeñar el ganado.
The morning guayoyo that is prepared in the villages, without as much calculation as the Baristas, The Guayoyo that wakes up the family and pushes them to the daily activities. It is that guayoyo that wakes up our beloved Venezuela. They are the guayoyos with which the farm workers get up to milk the cattle.
Pero una de las experiencias que mas recuerdo fue cuando compartí con unos campesinos llano adentro, estos Baristas criollos preparaban el café en una lata vieja dispuesta para la preparación del café, agregaban agua, un tanto de azúcar, café en polvo cultivado y molido por ellos mismos y luego montaban la lata sobre un fogón de leña, cuando estaba a punto de hervir sacaban una brasa de la leña y se la metían a la lata con el café, ¿y no lo va a colar? Pregunte asombrado, “no mijo”, me respondió la Señora, “Aquí estamos en el llano, pruebe pa’que sepa lo que es un café cerrero”, y así fue, ese café me dio como un corrientazo de energía que mantuvo activo hasta pasado el medio día.
But one of the experiences that I remember most was when I shared with some farmers in the plains, these Creole Baristas prepared coffee in an old can prepared for coffee, they added water, some sugar, powdered coffee grown and ground by themselves and then they mounted the can on a wood stove, when it was about to boil they took an ember out of the wood and put it in the can with the coffee, and it won't brew? I asked in amazement, "not millet", the Lady replied, "Here we are in the plain, try it so that you know what a café cerrero is", and so it was, that coffee gave me like a current of energy that kept me active until after midday.
Aunque preparado de diversas formas, Nunca desfavorece de su patriotismo a pesar de no ser oriundo del País. Algo así como mi Abuelo que era de origen Alemán pero tenía más de 50 años en Venezuela y me decía machucando el castellano “yo no nací aquí, pero soy tan Venezolano como el que mas”.
Although prepared in different ways, it never fails to be patriotic, even though it is not native to the country. Something like my grandfather who was of German origin but was more than 50 years old in Venezuela and he told me, crushing the Spanish, "I was not born here, but I am as Venezuelan as anyone else".
El café es parte de la historia y cultura de nuestro país, porque el café fue un producto de exportación en la época colonial y se ha convertido en una expresión social. Tomar café en los hogares venezolanos no es solo una bebida, sino que también incluye una manera de socializar y recibir invitados en el hogar.
Coffee is part of the history and culture of our country, because coffee was an export product in colonial times and has become a social expression. Drinking coffee in Venezuelan homes is not only a drink, but also includes a way to socialize and receive guests in the home.
El café forma parte de nuestra cultura. Es común escuchar expresiones como "vamos a tomar un cafecito", "quieres un guarapito para que espabiles", !má monta un guayoyito! entre otras expresiones sobre tomar café. Tomar café en Venezuela es una forma de tener una conversación y socializar con amigos o familiares. Tomar café es establecer un puente entre las personas. El olor del café recién hecho es un distintivo de saludo y paz, incluso para aquellos que no lo consumen, porque de esta manera lo reciben con una taza de amor y afecto en todas partes.
Coffee is part of our culture. It is common to hear expressions such as "let's have a cafecito", "you want a guarapito so you can get your act together", "ma monta un guayoyito! Drinking coffee in Venezuela is a way to have a conversation and socialize with friends or family. Drinking coffee is about building a bridge between people. The smell of freshly brewed coffee is a sign of greeting and peace, even for those who don't drink it, because this way they receive it with a cup of love and affection everywhere.
