Due to my job, I lead a very fast-paced and stressful lifestyle; studies here, consultations there; surgeries in one hospital or another, and to the already fast pace of my life, it is added that I have to be in constant study to always be a competent professional in my field.
In the midst of all this, I take my little moments of rest
I sit, whenever possible, in my office, lean back in my desk chair, and close my eyes for a while, just a few minutes. But it is when I am especially tired that I usually have one of my favorite drinks: Tea.
I am a passionate and big fan of drinking tea, because it just relaxes my nerves and puts me in a positive state of mind. Many people believe that because I am British (because of our custom of tea time), it is normal that I like tea, and in part, it is true; but my fondness for tea goes beyond that traditional custom of my country.
The tea that I usually drink to rest a bit or to relax is lime blossom. Said tea causes a very relaxing effect in all senses, so I acquired the habit of drinking it when I was studying at the medical school. But if I have a pending clinic appointment, or surgery to perform, lime blossom tea is a drink that I try to avoid, since it is when I most need to be alert and have all my senses active.
So, I drink a cup of coffee
In such cases I drink a very strong cup of coffee, because I love coffee, and because it keeps me alert enough to do my job as a doctor well. The reality of everything I have told you so far is that I drink both tea and coffee a lot, and many will think that it is only out of necessity, but no, it is not only out of necessity; but because I am fond of both drinks.
The point is that I know very well when to drink them to enhance the state of attention that I need at that moment, and that is where everything lies. But I am very fond of sitting down in my spare time to play a game of chess with a colleague in the cafeteria, while I sip one of these drinks. On some other occasion I will tell you about my love for chess, since it is something that I acquired not many years ago.
In any case, going back to the central issue I'm talking about today, sometimes I only drink the beverage that my state of mind requires (whether it's coffee or tea); but on very specific occasions when I need to drink coffee, I can't drink it, because in large doses it negatively affects my stomach (that is, it causes stomach discomfort); and that is why sometimes, instead of drinking coffee, I drink green tea.
Green tea is wonderful, because it keeps me alert for my job (just like coffee), but without affecting my stomach. That is why you will often see me at work sipping a large cup of green tea.
Coffee, green tea and linden tea
So, now you know what beverages I like to drink most of the time and you know the reasons why I drink them. There is no great mystery about it; and the truth is that I see that many of my colleagues are also fond of tea or coffee, but they always have a preference for one of the two drinks. I do not have any favorite, since I am an equal fan of both; and I drink them reasonably according to my need and the occasion.
Do you have any drink for which you feel a special predilection? Do you like to drink tea, coffee, juice or what drink and why?
