Welcome to RollinsHive, where we discussed a lot about the situation of things happening around you and as well table to you some inspirational passage that could make your day.
Today we see our country falling apart in various ways. Specifically, the African nations. And we often ask the same series of questions each day we talked about it with our peers, which says, 'Who exactly is to blame for the way the situation are currently?
Well, it is a very broad question that needs lots of interpretation and sometimes, topics like this could lead to unplanned argument or provocative discussion. However, to make this text a lot simpler, I have highlighted some possible answers to the question above and we shall deal with them all in series (phases). However, we shall not be taking them the way they are being are being arranged. So, let's kick off the show!
Like it of not, it all began from the Parents. They can be classified to be the root of all good and bad. While it is definitely not up to them to design a better future, there is no doubt there are better roles to play than just feeding and housing the children they had brought to this world.
Where I come from, Nigeria, parents had fallen short in so many ways because of ignorance and pride. There are a lot of people who really need to be reminded that parenting goes beyond feeding and clothing a child. It also involves grooming the child with knowledge on how to be a good representative of the family and the society at large.
Let's began from this aspect. I look around many developing countries today and find out that there are too much population, which is beyond the umbrella of the country's economy. Yet, we see many parents (those in the rural are a big contributor to these) giving birth to more than enough children that they can cater for. They ignore the necessity of family planning. In most cases, our parents have been so filled with ignorance to the point you ask them why they had to give birth to numerous children as such, they will give you funny answers (it they were to be truthful).
For example, where I come from, there is this growing mentality that has crowded the minds of our parents with the thought that giving birth to numerous children as such is beneficial. According to them, this is because, if child A did not make it, child B will make it. And if child B did not make it, child C will make it. It goes on and on. For me, I call this politics-parenting.
I don't see this as love. I just see it as pure politics at home. And because of this, a couple most likely end up giving birth to 13 children in poverty. Not being able to cater for all of them or give them solid education, so many of these kids loose their way and develop into bad omen for the society at large.
This same politics-parenting as I would call it gives in for the ignorance that will basically make parents send their child to school for one selfish purpose, TO HOPE THEY BECOME RICH AND RETURN THE FAVOUR TO THEM. Don't get me wrong. While this is normal and okay, there is more that meet the eye.
It boils down to the theory where a parent will place his or her hand on the child's shoulder while he was still very young and say he should study hard so he can become someone in life. So he can attain to the height the family never did. Again, while this is good, the parents never showed this child that while he or she becomes somebody, he or she should have the society best interest at heart and not just sort out for their pockets.
If such child end up becoming a leader of a country, say politician for example, the country's interest is not there right from the beginning. It is such people that will embezzling public funds. And no matter how much they have acquire, they will never be satisfied.
Lastly, most parents knows too well that what they do at times is either illegal or is something that should not be taken to the public. Yet, they do so in front of their children with the mentality they are still very young to understand or process the knowledge their eyes had fed them. Well, these things are like seeds. And no matter how little a child is, as they grow, the seeds germinate within them. And the day they began exhibiting such behavior, you yourself as a parent began wondering where on Earth they pick that from. You might even conclude it was from their peers.
By the time parents began to have it in mind that life isn't all about them or their child, they would help bring up youths who are not highly self-centered.
