One of the things I have enjoyed most about my profession is that it has taken me to incredible places without planning it. I think this was one of the reasons why I studied journalism, the daily excitement it gives you.

On this occasion I was working in a news agency and I had to go to cover a cultural event that was going to be held in a remote community with a beach included, it was Puerto Cruz, a town located in La Guaira state, in the central Venezuelan coast.

Getting there was a bit complicated, the driver of the agency didn't know the road very well and it took us longer than usual to get there. We went up the road to Colonia Tovar, in Aragua state and before entering that town we took a detour that in about an hour took us to Puerto Cruz. The beach is small, about 150 meters long they say, but very beautiful, it was a pity that the day was cloudy. Its geography is very similar to the beaches of Aragua state, as it is surrounded by mountains and has a river.

The river, there was only one dog enjoying there, as it wasn't a weekend there were no tourists / El río, sólo había un perro disfrutando allí, como no era fin de semana no había turistas

After covering the cultural event, together with my cameraman we went for a walk around the place and I was able to take these few pictures. We didn't have much time since we had to return to Caracas, it was after 4:00 in the afternoon.

Puerto Cruz has services for visitors such as restrooms, some simple accommodations (you can also camp), places to eat, etc. I will definitely want to come back to get to know it better, and of course, swim in the beach and the river.

The town's economic activity moves between fishing and tourism, from here you can visit other nearby beaches such as Puerto Maya by hiring a boat.

Before leaving, we went back to the shore for a few minutes so that my cameraman could make some additional recordings for the audiovisual work, and so, taking more beautiful shots with us, we said goodbye to this exotic Venezuelan beach corner.
