Hace tiempo, cuando mi tío tenía una parcela en el pueblo de Yagua, por Guacara, en el estado Carabobo (Venezuela), nos llevó un día a mi mamá, mi hermana y a mí a conocer un peculiar centro comercial que está por allí cerca. Primero pasamos por la parcela, donde ayudamos a mi tío a limpiar un poco el terreno y también recogimos muchos mangos de una enorme mata que estaba allí.
Some time ago, when my uncle had a plot of land in the town of Yagua, near Guacara, in Carabobo state (Venezuela), he took my mom, my sister and me one day to visit a peculiar shopping center nearby. First we went through the plot, where we helped my uncle to clean the land a little bit and we also picked a lot of mangoes from a huge tree that was there.
Después nos fuimos a Piedra Pintada, así se llama el centro comercial. Su fachada con diversas tiendas lo hacen ver como un lugar normal, pero cuando vas hacia la parte de atrás, te encuentras con un mundo primitivo.
Then we went to Piedra Pintada (Painted Stone), that's the name of the mall. Its facade with several stores makes it look like a normal place, but when you go to the back, you find a primitive world.

Mi tío ya lo conocía, no nos había dicho cómo era el lugar, quería que nos sorprendiéramos al verlo, y así fue. Lo primero que vi, porque destaca en una de las paredes, es la réplica gigante de la "Venus de Tacarigua", una deidad antropomorfa femenina a la que le rendían culto los indígenas que habitaban la zona del Lago de Valencia o de Tacarigua ubicado entre los estados Aragua y Carabobo.
My uncle already knew it, he hadn't told us what the place was like, he wanted us to be surprised when we saw it, and so we were. The first thing I saw, because it stands out on one of the walls, is the giant replica of the "Venus of Tacarigua", an anthropomorphic female deity worshipped by the indigenous people who inhabited the area of Lake Valencia or Tacarigua located between the states of Aragua and Carabobo.

Asociadas a la fertilidad, estas figuras prehispánicas fueron hechas con arcilla o barro entre los años 800 y 1500 a. C. (antes de Cristo), su aspecto es variado al igual que su tamaño aunque suelen ser pequeñas, muchas de estas piezas antiguas están resguardadas en el Museo de Ciencias de Caracas.
Associated with fertility, these pre-Hispanic figures were made of clay or mud between 800 and 1500 B.C. (before Christ), their appearance is varied as well as their size, although they are usually small, many of these ancient pieces are kept in the Caracas Science Museum.

Hice una pequeña investigación sobre este centro comercial y supe que fue idea del industrial de Guacara, Alfonso Severino, quien quiso recrear la cultura indígena presente en esta zona para hacer de este lugar un punto de interés turístico además de comercial. Observando los detalles de cada obra me parece que los artesanos que participaron en este proyecto hicieron un trabajo excelente, muy creativo.
I did a little research on this mall and learned that it was the idea of the industrialist of Guacara, Alfonso Severino, who wanted to recreate the indigenous culture present in this area to make this place a point of tourist interest as well as commercial. Observing the details of each work, it seems to me that the artisans who participated in this project did an excellent job, very creative.

Su nombre, Piedra Pintada, tiene que ver con la cercanía del Parque Arqueológico Piedra Pintada, ubicado en Vigirima, donde está un importante conjunto de petroglifos y menhires hechos por los indígenas de la cuenca del Lago de Valencia posiblemente entre los siglos I y IX.
Its name, Piedra Pintada, has to do with the proximity of Piedra Pintada Archaeological Park, located in Vigirima, where there is an important group of petroglyphs and menhirs made by the indigenous people of the Lake Valencia basin, possibly between the first and ninth centuries.

En las paredes del centro comercial, además de ver recreadas en murales escenas de la vida cotidiana de estas etnias venezolanas, se va un poco más allá, con la representación de animales de la era jurásica.
On the walls of the mall, in addition to recreating in murals scenes from the daily life of these Venezuelan ethnic groups, they go a little further, with the representation of animals from the Jurassic era.
Aunque en Venezuela no se han encontrado hasta ahora dinosaurios de grandes dimensiones, en este lugar se muestran algunos de otros lugares, supongo que para atraer a más visitantes. También hay una cueva donde puedes ver a los Cromañones o primeros humanos modernos prehistóricos y su arte rupestre, lamentablemente con la cámara que tenía en ese momento no pude captar buenas fotos allí, salían oscuras.
Although no large dinosaurs have been found in Venezuela so far, this place shows some from other places, I guess to attract more visitors. There is also a cave where you can see the Cro-Magnons or first prehistoric modern humans and their rock art, unfortunately with the camera I had at the time I couldn't take good pictures there, they came out dark.

¡Excelente artículo! Me ha emocionado al leer tu reseña porque está muy bien explicado el porqué de su creación y la influencia del arte prehispánico en toda la fachada y ornamentación del lugar. Recuerdo haber ido de niña y era fantástico porque se veía muy grande ante mis ojos, además de que había una especie de cueva donde habían dinosaurios mecánicos o algo de ello. Ese centro comercial es una hermosura de trabajo arquitectónico. Te mando un abrazo, nuevamente, muy buen trabajo.

De verdad todas las representaciones que han hecho están muy bien creadas, imagínate, para los niños como tú cuando fuiste es aún más impactante, sin duda logran introducirte en esa época prehispánica y mucho más atrás con esos dinosaurios.
