A veces, las mejores experiencias son las que menos se planifican.
Jueves en la mañana, recibo la noticia de que debía ir el viernes a Caracas para una entrevista en relación al ingreso de mi hija a la universidad de sus sueños. No es algo seguro, pero estoy haciendo todo lo que está en mis manos para lograrlo, no quiero que pese en mi conciencia.
"Casualmente", el día anterior la empresa me había pagado un dinero extra y, el viernes, era feriado no laborable en Anzoátegui, por el ser el natalicio del General José Antonio Anzoátegui. Todo era perfecto.
Además, conseguí el número de una agencia de viaje que me ayudó con la logística y, lo más difícil era que mi esposo aprobara el viaje y no se opuso en lo absoluto, así que esa misma noche del jueves, mi hija y yo estábamos montadas en un autobús con destino a Caracas.
Sometimes, the best experiences are the ones that are least planned.
On Thursday morning, I received the news that I had to go to Caracas on Friday for an interview regarding my daughter's admission to the university of her dreams. It's not a sure thing, but I'm doing everything in my power to make it happen. I don't want it to weigh on my conscience.
"Coincidentally," the day before, the company had paid me some extra money, and Friday was a holiday in Anzoátegui, as it was the birthday of General José Antonio Anzoátegui. Everything was perfect.
I also got the number of a travel agency that helped me with the logistics, and the hardest part was getting my husband to approve the trip, but he didn't object at all, so that same Thursday night, my daughter and I were on a bus bound for Caracas.
Nuestra alegría era inmensa, para nosotras era una gran aventura y con un gran propósito.
Salimos alrededor de las 10:30 P.M y llegamos como a las 8:00 A.M. El viaje estuvo bien, el único detalle es que yo no duermo durante el recorrido, así que pasé la noche en vela, pero ni siquiera eso me desanimaba.
El autobús nos dejó en "Colegio de Ingenieros" y desde allí nos fuimos en Metro hasta "Sabana Grande", donde nos detuvimos a desayunar en un sitio en el que nos gusta comer, antes de ir a la universidad.
We were so excited—for us, it was a big adventure with a big purpose.
We left around 10:30 PM and got there around 8:00 AM. The trip was fine, except that I don't sleep during the ride, so I stayed up all night, but even that didn't get me down.
The bus dropped us off at the "College of Engineers," and from there we took the subway to Sabana Grande, where we stopped for breakfast at a place we like to eat before going to the university.
Ahora sí estábamos listas para nuestra misión, solicitamos un Ridery (taxi) que nos llevara a la universidad, aún así, desde el punto en el que nos dejó hasta donde era nuestra cita, tuvimos que caminar bastante, pero íbamos disfrutando la belleza de sus espacios, llenos de verde naturaleza.
Con la gracia de Dios encontramos a la persona que buscábamos y todo fluyó de maravilla, así que sólo nos queda esperar por el veredicto final, que mi corazón siente que es a favor y ruego que así sea, si es lo mejor para mi hija.
Now we were ready for our mission. We requested a Ridery (taxi) to take us to the university. Even so, from the point where it dropped us off to where our appointment was, we had to walk quite a bit, but we enjoyed the beauty of its surroundings, full of green nature.
By the grace of God, we found the person we were looking for, and everything went wonderfully. Now we just have to wait for the final verdict, which my heart feels will be in our favor, and I pray that it will be, if it is the best thing for my daughter.
Luego fuimos a la piscina de la universidad, un espacio que es importante para mi hija, porque ella desea continuar practicando natación.
Había una clase en curso, fue emocionante imaginarme a mi princesa en una de ellas.
Es muy grato ver que esta universidad, aún siendo pública, sigue siendo siendo hermosa y funcional.
También estaba abierto el estadio universitario, pero ya mis piecitos no daban más, porque se me ocurrió llevar unos botines y no unos zapatos deportivos... gran error.
Then we went to the university pool, a place that is important to my daughter because she wants to continue swimming.
There was a class in progress, and it was exciting to imagine my princess in one of them.
It's very gratifying to see that this university, even though it's public, is still beautiful and functional.
The university stadium was also open, but my feet couldn't take it anymore because I decided to wear boots instead of sneakers... big mistake.
La verdad es que no olvidaré ese día, creo que es uno de esos que marcan un antes y un después en la vida de alguien. Sentí que estaba haciendo lo correcto y que Dios nos guio y acompañó en todo momento.
Tanto era nuestra inspiración, que al salir de esta casa de estudios, nos fuimos al terminal y tomamos un autobús a la ciudad de Valencia, para conocer un par de universidades allá, pero eso ya es historia para otra publicación.
Esta aventura me hizo ver que no hay límites cuando algo se desea con el alma.
The truth is that I will never forget that day. I think it is one of those days that mark a turning point in someone's life. I felt that I was doing the right thing and that God was guiding and accompanying us at all times.
We were so inspired that when we left the university, we went to the bus station and took a bus to the city of Valencia to visit a couple of universities there, but that's a story for another time.
This adventure made me realize that there are no limits when you want something with all your heart.
