I think the sober husbands beating up wifes, and worries about some going into withdrawals is a part of why they allowed them to stay open

That's why South Africa with all of its mineral riches will stay a "development" country into the future.

Yes and that divide is going to kill many one of these days JJ.
We have seen it in many of the African countries JJ and Zimbabwe was the latest that killed and chucked whites out of the country. After that they became so poor that most of the Zimbaweans now live here in our country.
I remember reading about Zimbabwe once and its history till about maybe 5years ago, so much potential in Africa that sadly has never bene meet
Once the bread basket of Africa and now totally destroyed JJ.
A real travesty and their people suffer like never before.
The victors have become their own enemies.
