A Wednesday Walk to Market Friday
This post will be a day late for Wednesday Walk sort of hosted by me, and a day late for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle
I say sort of hosted by me for the Wednesday Walk as I am just getting back into posting on here more regularly and because I havent been able to get out walking as much as i usually do.
So my apologies to those who have been posting regularly in the Wednesday Walk and been ignored by me while I have been away, I will try and make time to visit this weeks walk posts, but really have to think and decide if I can keep up hosting this or need to see if anyone else is interested in taking it over.
but for now let me get into this post
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and daily challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.
For this weeks post, I am stretching both challenges as this is a walk from last year, and perhaps well no p[perhaps stretching what is a market, but first a photo

Now you may think OK this photo could be on a walk, which it is, but how does this relate to Market Friday, well this shot and the walk was around the Buttonwood Park here in New Bedford, now you pay to visit a Zoo so I say loosely it could be considered a market, and they did have a little shop, so even more a market.

I looked up online about the elephants at the zoo and found out that there are two there, Ruth At 61 years old, and Emily,
I am not sure which one is in these photos so telling about them both
Emily is the larger of the two, weighs in at roughly 8,700 pounds while Ruth weighs around 6,400 pounds. These beautiful ladies receive about 150 lbs of hay, 20 lbs of grain, 20 lbs of produce and 25 – 100 lbs of browse (maple, bamboo, etc) each day!! Their favorite treats include alfalfa cubes, dried fruit, watermelon and sugar cane.

I went for a mix of color and B&W shots of the Elephant whether it be Emily or Ruth, I at first thought it looked in a bad way, but they are a good age and that perhaps why they look a bit gaunt ( is that the right word) in a way

I did enjoy the walk Lulu and I did around the Zoo and we have a season pass and plan to visit there a few times when it warms up here, Lulu loves it and its good for her to get out walking more.

Elephants are such amazing creatures. Not only do they have a cool snout, they have those cute floppy ears. I wish that humans, over the years, had treated them kinder in the wild. I am a sucker for the B&W shots. I always had like black and white. I think the lack of color and the focus being more on the tonal values, brings a sense of majesty to these ladies in your photos. Well done.. And I even learned a little about 'Market Friday' and 'Wednesday Walk'. Thanks!

Funny we should discuss this now early this morning I was editing photos and was in a B&W mood
Elephants are great, it's a while since I have been to a zoo where they have these amazing animals.
I do also think they look most times best in black&white, their furrowed skin looks cool in monochrome.
There's so much to see in a zoo that you even might not notice how much you actually walk - that's a good thing for you and for your wife, and you can make use of your big telephoto lens a little bit 😊

BEER.Great shots! That is cool that they have a place like that so close to you! It should be fun to visit there often and see all of the animals. Did you say how many different ones they have there?
It is great it is maybe only two miles fromus, a small Zoo but still nice to visit and walk aroundand with the yearly membership I thinkwe get discounts to other Zoos in the region, I must check that out
I think ther eis only these two elephants there, but a nice selection of animals
That is really cool. Yeah, they probably have reciprocity or whatever it is called. Lots of museums do that too.
Yes thats what it is, I had a quick look and most are either 50% or 100% off so will be cool to visit some other Zoos all going well this spring/Summer

By the size of the animal and her ears these are Indian Elephants, smaller in size to the African. Gorgeous creatures, able to make a silent entry and love seeing them in your photography collection.
Sure you were not at the market to buy one, sure would enjoy them once you get to know them.

The attention is on the subject and isn't detracted by the color around it. You always select such a wonderful way of presenting the tags, and that is not stretching the truth at all.

In these times when COVID has made it challenging to put together a post, or even search out different locations, I can say with an optimistic attitude that #MarketFriday has survived the pandemic, thanks to all of you. Without your dedication to stretch what we call a market has been done successfully. Thank you! All of you! In doing so, we have discovered that we have added a new dimension to the tag. As many have been staying closer to home, I have also discovered more and more about each of you and that has been pretty nice. I have to admit, with the platform broken into different communities and tags, we get to see the same people, more or less that join every week, so we get to know each other a little bit. The challenge points out our differences, but, then, it also shows many things our cultures share. When the day is done, it shows off how human we all are and how we basically all care about our families and others. We embrace each other as humans.

Glad to be joining Market Friday already thinking about next week
And felt I had to do a walk post since I am back posting feel kind of bad I can’t be as active supporting it as I used to but getting there
You shouldn't feel bad because real life matters more. Everybody understands and I had to do the same with Market Friday for almost 3 months. People kept on posting anyway, so I think that the post because it's fun and they do it but what many don't realize is it's a huge responsibility to run a community or tag. Thank you so much for supporting work at Friday and I think that you need to worry less about making sure you get it done because it's just going to drive you crazy.
