Good morning dear gems community, today I want to share with you an extended trip to Niquitao. Edo-Trujillo, is a trip that I made approximately 3 years ago. For my family it was a tradition to go and spend the 24th of December there, because my grandparents were both from Trujillo, and they both loved that town, after they died we left the tradition.
Buenos días apreciada comunidad de gems, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un expendido viaje hacia Niquitao. Edo-Trujillo, es un viaje que realice aproximadamente 3 años atrás. Para mi familia era tradición ir a pasar los 24 de Diciembre allá, pues mis abuelos ambos eran de Trujillo, y a ambos les encantaba ese pueblo, luego de que murieron dejamos la tradición.
Let's start, Niquitao is a small town in the state of Trujillo, known for its coffee, and for the blackberry wine that the Batoni family makes, this family and mine have been friends for years, this town is located in front of the paramo, and perhaps you have heard of the "Teta de Niquitao" is a beautiful hill, considered a natural monument that is over 4000m high, when the weather is clear it is said that you can see the city of Maracaibo from the top.
We are located in the town, in an inn called Guiriguay, the streets are steep, as if they were made as they are on a mountain without carving, and the colonial houses, even the streets are made of stone in some parts, they are extremely old streets as well as the houses. The center of everything is the square, there people meet, at any time of day, most of the shops are near the square, the places of crafts, and fast food, plus the church is also in front of the square, so it is the busiest place.
Comencemos, Niquitao es un pequeño pueblo del estado Trujillo, conocido por su Cafe, y por el vino de mora que realiza la familia Batoni, esta familia y la mía son amigas desde hace años, este pueblo ubicado frente al paramo, y quizás hayas oído nombrar sobre la "Teta de Niquitao" es una hermosa colina, considerada monumento natural que esta a mas de 4000m de altura, cuando el clima esta despejado se dice que se puede observar la ciudad de Maracaibo desde la cima.
Nosotros nos situamos en el pueblo, en una posada llamada Guiriguay, las calles son empinadas, como si fuesen hechas tal cual sobre una montaña sin esculpir, y las casas colonias, aun las calles son de piedra en algunas partes, son calles sumamente antiguas al igual que las casas. El centro de todo es la plaza, allí se reúnen las personas, en cualquier momento del día, la mayoría de los comercios esta cercano a la plaza, los lugares de artesanía, y comida rápida, ademas la iglesia también esta frente a esta plaza, por eso es el lugar mas concurrido.
One of the most famous places of Niquitao, is the monument to the "Battle of Niquitao", not if you are aware but that town was the epicenter of a battle between the royalist soldiers and patriots, in the monument there are sculptures in honor of Gr. Vicente Campo Elias, José Félix Ribas, Rafael Urdaneta.
There are also the pailas de niquitao, which is a formation of natural water wells, with waterfalls, but unfortunately I do not have the photos of this place, so I will only show you the monument.
Uno de los lugares mas famosos de Niquitao, es el monumento a la "Batalla de Niquitao", no si estas enterado pero ese pueblo fue epicentro de una batalla entre los soldados realistas y los patriotas, en el monumento hay esculturas en honor al Gr. Vicente Campo Elias, José Félix Ribas, Rafael Urdaneta.
También se encuentran las pailas de niquitao, que es una formación de pozos de agua natural, con caídas de agua, pero lastimosamente no tengo las fotos de este lugar, así que solo te mostrare el monumento.

Another reason why this beautiful little town is known is because of its strawberries, which are of the best quality in the area, and are very rich and sweet.
Otra de las cosas por que es que conocido este bello pueblito, es por sus fresas, son de la mejor calidad de la zona, y son muy ricas y dulces.
Most of the way you can find springs and small waterfalls, the water is extremely clear and cold.
Por gran parte del camino se pueden encontrar nacientes y pequeñas caídas de agua, el agua es sumamente cristalina y fría.
Besides going in the time of December, we can observe beautiful Christmas flowers everywhere.
Ademas de ir en la época de Diciembre, podemos observar hermosas flores navideñas por todas partes.

Me pregunto porque hay tantos lugares llamado Trujillo en Mesoamerica.?
Debí especificar el país jajajaja, pero si tienes razón conozco en Perú otro lugar llamado así y en Argentina, en ecuador también hay un Trujillo? Cuando estuve allá nunca lo escuché, escuché de santo domingo, qué también hay un pueblo andino aquí llamado igual.
