Introduction in human liver

The liver is the largest gland in the body weigh about 1.6 kgrms and forms about 1/40th of the body weight .it is located on the upper right side of the abdonomial cavity occupied the greater part of the right hypocondric region. Part of hepigastric region and extended into the left hypocondric region. It is dark red in colour . It is superior surface is convex and fits into the concavity of the diaphram. It is attached to the diapharm by a median vertical fold of peritonium. The liver consists of two main lobes. Large right love and much smaller left lobe. Two small lobes called quadrate lobe and condate lobe are also present behind main lobes. The gall bladder lies in the inferior surface of right lobe. The gall bladder stores bile secreated by the liver.
