Does Palestine Have the Right to Self-Defense?

As tensions escalate in Israel/Palestine, the casualties, typically, are disproportionate--with at least 28 Palestinians, including ten children killed versus two Israelis.

The US State Department is careful to affirm Israeli’s right of self-defense. Yet, The question remains do Palestinians have the same right, as they continue to be colonized off the map?

How long will Israel continue to get away with their war crimes, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing?

Not all are deceived, however, by the bully Israel playing the role of victim, such as this MSNBC oped piece which challenges the distorted narrative.

What’s sad and frustrating is that Israel could not act with such impunity without the moral, financial and military backing of the United States.

As a case in point, the ruthless Benjamin Netanyahu has said: Israel would increase both the intensity of the attacks and the rate of attacks.

Particularly distressing is that this violence should take place during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, fueled by Jewish settlers plans to evict Palestinian families from their neighborhood in east Jerusalem.

Moreover, Israeli police used tear gas, stun grenades and rubber-coated bullets on Palestinians, as they prayed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Around 300 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces at this holy site in Jerusalem.

Could you, peacefully, endure such systematic humiliation and stand by, peacefully, as your home and memories were stolen from you?

The slogan we heard, recently “No justice, no peace" in connection to Black Lives Matter also applies, here:

Until the evictions, unequal rights, and pervasive discrimination in Jerusalem end, clashes will continue.

Sort:

fuck israeli apartheid bastard war criminals !! !!

What is happening and what has been happening in Palestine is horrific. I am left speechless by the cruelty and injustice of it all. Thank you for spreading awareness @yahia-lababidi xx

I’m grateful for your attention and solidarity 🙏🏽

Any public criticism of the Israeli government tends to result in accusations of antisemitism. Never mind that the government does not represent the people, or that the Palestinians are Semitic, too. No, you're a closet neo-Nazi if you call out the crimes committed by Israel!

Sure does,

Even Justin Trudeau said this.

The world leaders are wanting this war I feel, One more way to cause WW3

Thank you, for seeing through the spin of bulky posing as victim... Hopefully, world wakes up...

Of the 219 people who have been killed in Gaza, so far, at least 63 are children.

Some of their names are, below :

May their precious lives not be lost in vain 🕊

Meditating on this:

I have spent a great deal of my life during the past thirty-five years advocating the rights of the Palestinian people to national self-determination, but I have always tried to do that with full attention paid to the reality of the Jewish people and what they suffered by the way of persecution and genocide.

The paramount thing is that the struggle for equality in Palestine/Israel should be directed toward a humane goal, that is, coexistence, and not further suppression and denial.

Not accidentally, I indicate that Orientalism and modern anti-Semitism have common roots.

Therefore, it would seem to be a vital necessity for independent intellectuals always to provide alternative models to the reductively simplifying and confining ones, based on mutual hostility, that have prevailed in the Middle East and elsewhere for so long.
