FERTILIZER APPLICATION IN MY CORN🌽 FARM

in GEMS • 4 years ago (edited)

Hello hiveians

This is more like me updating you all about my corn 🌽 farm which I have previously written on here: https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@zion-francis/growing-corn-in-my-family-farm

Thus far it's been all rosy in my corn farm and now it's the time to apply fertilizer to the corn which will aid the growth and better production of my corn.

A synthetic type of fertilizer called the NPK fertilizer that is very common in my country and it's used by 90% of farmers due to its well known and documented proficiency which is what I also use for my every crop. This type of fertilizer is very white in colouration, it is ball shaped and tiny in a way.

NPK stands for "nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium," the three nutrients that compose complete fertilizers.

Here are the few steps I took in applying the fertilizer to the corn

  • First is safety first as synthetic fertilizer like NPK that am dealing with can cause harm to human health if ingested so you have to make use of hand gloves just to play safe to some extent

  • Next is to make a shallow hole just beside the root of the corn to prevent wastage or make for efficient output from your fertilizer.

You may decide against creating a shallow hole which will make your
work faster but your fertilizer might
just be washed away by rain if you not lucky

  • Then you apply a measured amount of fertilizer inside such shallow hole. I said a measured quantity as too much fertilizer may do more harm that good to your crop

That is basically it. But please do remember to wash and clean your hands with detergent to prevent ingestion of the fertilizer.

Note

however that not every land needs fertilizer to be applied to the crop for better produce. Some lands are very very fertile and thus don't need the application of extra fertilizer. I have a particular land whose produce are often far better without the use and application of fertilizer.

With the application of fertilizer done, it's time to patiently look forward to the time of harvest which will be in a few weeks time

Thank you all for viewing my post

Have a blessed day ahead
