No matter what job you do, as long as you work in an organization, then you can definitely learn some important lessons from the anime Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil).
Youjo Senki is a pretty entertaining Anime. There are a few good reasons why you should check it out. For one, it has an over-the-top protagonist (Tanya) whose evil antics makes you feel like your sole ambition in life is to imitate her. Youjo Senki takes place in an alternate universe where a company man was reincarnated into a little girl. Despite reincarnating into a little girl, he still possesses his memories and thereby became somewhat of an evil genius within the army equivalent to Nazi Germany. This universe is set approximately during a world war 2 setting where battles are fought with magic. So, aside from possessing his memories from the other world, he was also very talented in using magic in this new world of his.
Despite all that, his (or her) sole purpose was to rise throughout the ranks in the military so she can get a comfortable job far away from the front lines. The reason for this is that in this world, she has to die a natural death or else she would end up in hell. To avoid that, she has to accept god (or being X) which she is adamant not to. It is a great show overall but what can you possibly learn from this anime?
The Workplace Lesson
Now before I continue, a bit of a disclaimer, if you work in an awesome workplace or if you are happy in what you are doing, this probably ain't the article for you. But, if you share the same goals as Tanya (the protagonist of the anime) well, this may be for you.
So, Tanya's idea of a dream job is to rise through the ranks so she won't have to die that easily. For the workplace, that could be rising through the ranks so that you won't have to do that much. As such, Tanya's plan was to innovate the way the army fight wars. In addition, Tanya displayed great leadership skills and was able to implement much of the innovation he planned. This caught the attention of the top brass who promoted her.
Instead of promoting her to the rear, she was given promotions that placed her closer and closer to the frontlines so that she can turn the tide of the war. Therein lies the lesson, if you do a great job, you get placed closer and closer to the action. It is close to that action that you can make the best impact.
The Takeaway
WATCH THE ANIME! IT'S GOOD. Oh right, the workplace lesson. I remember teaching a university night class for a semester just to pay for my wedding. After working from 7 am daily, I felt less than enthusiastic to work from 7 pm-10pm. Sure, I could sit down and lecture my class about grammar but I tried my best to explain the concepts using anime/food/movies.
That caught the attention of my supervisor who wanted me back for a second semester and even gave me extra slots. I was only there to get paid like Tanya, but if you do your job well, you get placed closer to the action.
Of course, there are tonnes of other lessons that you can learn from the anime, do check it out and let me know your thoughts about it. If you have watched it, do let me know your thoughts on it!
I think I saw something about this anime, saying something like "all of them are socialist, just kill'em", I did not know the name of this anime so I am really happy, I will watch that
You'll definitely not regret it! Only qualm is that they didn't do a full second season
That's sad, but it can be kinda a habit
I've been totally meaning to watch this anime. It's near at the top of my list!
