I started taking care of the whole crop, not just the pumpkins.
First, ours was hit by a drought, the temperature climbed to 37.38 and one day even the maximum for this year was 39 degrees Celsius .
All this leaves an imprint on the plants.
Although I try to keep the plants alive, they also stop growing during that period of high temperatures, struggling for bare survival.
Then there were two supercell storms, with incredibly strong winds. Fortunately, it only damaged my fence and shade netting. All the plants did well.
Yesterday's 18 degrees and today's 23 are a real refreshment and I hope they are not too much juice for the plants.
Of the six pumpkins I planted, I'm half satisfied.
Three have made a good carcass and are doing well and three are struggling.
I also added some hay around them to help reduce evaporation.
I also planted them next to corn, but that too has stopped growing. I planned for the corn to protect them a little from too much sun.
Some of the leaves are showing the effects of the strong sun, turning yellow and drying out.
I definitely planned to sow a second batch of pumpkins. The Tambourine are already struggling with the weather conditions and now I sowed a white domestic one - crazy ( ludaja )
I mixed some soil from the garden and compost.
I made a lot of the mixture, I didn't have that many pumpkin seeds.
so I added melons and watermelons to the remaining spaces.
Watermelon for the new year, who knows? if the conditions allow, maybe we'll get sweet.
The World Pumpkin Championship is slowly underway, I hope I will manage to overcome the weather conditions and have a good harvest.
