Hi hivers,
Every farmers prayer is for a good rain to fall when one plants but nearly reverse is the case because the rain that fell, it fell with heavy wind which nearly scatter my maize farm but thanks be to God that i serve, i got there quick to plant face two of my cassava when i saw it.
To have a farm is not a small work, it's a very tedious work.
After i applied fertiliser some days ago, i got to my farm to plant the second set of cassava when i discovered what wind rain have done to the farm, firstly i was shocked and heart broken, saying in my mind 'so all my effort have gone' on the other hand i was saying it can't be.
So i decided to get a hoe and i and my nephew started putting sand on the bottom of the maize so that it will stand, at first it was as if am making another ridges, i was very weak but i said to myself this maize farm must bring forth fruit and good ones for that matter, so we finished and couldn't plant the cassava and the next day i planted the cassava on the second face of the farm.
Process of putting sand on the stem to raise the maize up.
when i raised the maize up finished. Thank God
Planting of the cassava stem on my farm on the second side of the farm
First cut the cassava stem into small sizes
Lay it on each heaps
And plant it with cutlass making sure the growing point face up.
That sucks that the wind combined with the rain did the damage to your plants! It is a challenging situation, to have the ability to plant the food but things like that come in and destroy some of your progress. I'm glad that you were able to improve it though and add sand to the ground and make the plants stronger. I appreciate that you did not give up! It is not a lot but I am glad you were strong enough to not give up and kept going with your planting.
I look forward to seeing, in a few months, the harvesting of your cassava and the maize!
Thank you very much @cmplxty. It was not really easy, thanks for your all the time encouragement, it really means alot to me, i really do appreciate it alot. Yeah the harvest will definitely be in a months time or more for the maize but the cassava, it will take up to next year july or August next year, its a year plant. Wish i can send you my maize when i harvest it. Cheers 🍻, how is your day going over there?
That's good, I'm glad I have helped you in some way stay motivated!
Thanks for giving me a more accurate timeline, I know a lot of plants take different amounts of times to grow and mature. The maize sounds pretty normal but the Cassava takes quite a long time! I will have to look up the plant to get a better idea of what it looks like and what it is used for.
Things are going well here, thank you! It is sunny and warm so that is always a good thing! I am looking forward to spending some time relaxing this weekend, we have a lake near our house that we spend a lot of time so it is very nice and relaxing.
Yeah! Don't worry you will definitely be seeing the progress of the cassava and how it look like. And its usefulness is much, you can use it to do gari powder for drinking. It can be used to do eba or apu which is solid food, it can be use to do starch used to put on cloth after washing to make it stiff and you will iron it, it does makes someone look smart.
Wow thats cool to stay around lake and enjoy the cool breeze blowing from the water waves.
Thats cool, enjoy yourself and stay safe 💞
